  • gamepad config?best quake version if using wifi?

is there anyway to program a dual shock controller for pc for quake?and what would be the best engine or quake version to use if i have wifi connection to internet?

For DualShock 3 - How to Use a Playstation 3 Controller in 64 bit Windows 7 and Vista

For engine, basically all modern engines will be fine, even glquake which is far outdated runs wifi fine, there isn't any special requirements to run a game with wifi internet.

u dont want a controller for quake, u want a keyboard and mouse, get a logitech g500 or microsoft wheel mouse optical for a cheaper end mouse,
u want to bind w a s d, for forward back moveright moveleft, do not use keys to turn, use ur mouse to turn, make a file autoexec.cfg and put it in id1 folder
        +mlook for mouse look

        get those basics down first
and in command line use -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd
start run command line should look like this
        C:\quake\glpro451.exe -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd

If it's a wireless 360 pad, I do believe you need the USB Dongle adapter. I've tried a few times and failed.
For the PS2 controller on PC, simply just search ebay for a Playstation 2 to USB Adapter. I had one I picked up from EB Games (in USA it's GameStop) for about $10.

The Xbox 360's controller charge cable doesn't send the data, so if referring to that - it will not work. You'd instead need the USB Dongle I mentioned.

                        This

For the PS2 controller, if it's detected by your PC and is fully operating (test the gamepad utility in Windows Control Panel) you just need to go into Quake, set up your controls and when it asks you to push a key - you push one of the controllers buttons.

Wish they would finally make an affordable trackball controller from playing fps games with a gamepad. I know they tried a while ago for ps2 and it looked really promising. It just never got off the ground. Basically, it just had a trackball instead of a right analog stick.
