I can't really think of many sites that don't. We'd have to remove most of the links to other communities with the exception of development communities, then we'd be doing a disservice for anyone looking for help with Quake/QW.

Doesn't the site you get your newsfeed from have an iffy link on their homepage?

I'm just saying we'd have to remove half of our links. We aren't going to be doing a disservice to players looking for the forum/board for the type of Quake/QW they play in the region of the world that they play in.

That doesn't work for me. It defeats the goal of this site.

Please do not link to illegal downloads in forum posts, it'll make life easier so we can focus on making the site better and encouraging Quake projects and the other stuff that will help make Quake a better game, etc.

Or did I completely miss the point of that discussion?

Don't say "hey here is your free Quake download, get it here. This link will get you all hooked up wit dat."

We don't have any control over what other sites do.

But if someone asks a question about Client X and the official forum for Client X happens to also have some iffy links (for instance, a multigame client comes to mind ... RTE? No. GTE? No. Damn, memory lapse.), we still need to direct people there so people can get their question asked from the developers, right?

It's a crazy world. I'm not disclaiming anything, but I didn't want to walk down this road due to the complications, but we are now there.

And what about second hand links like sites that also happen to have links to another site that falls into category? Gets real murky.

PlanetQuake runs front page news to sites that have big phat downloads like this category on their homepage. I mean, we aren't the warez police.

Needless to say, the bizarreness of Quake continues. They don't want to sell it in stores, but I figure they don't want you to steal it either, heh.

I like every opportunity to bitch about how much it ticks me off that Quake isn't in the "old games" bin at stores. They need to do that. Look at all the lost sales, heheheh. :d :d
