One upon a time, long long ago they thought there would be an infinite number of sequels to the movie Friday the Thirteenth.
But there WEREN'T!
I think they made 8 or 9 Friday the Thirteenth movies, if you count that Jason vs. Freddy movie from 2 or 3 years ago.
There is a Quake 4, but I think it was a 6/7 year gap between Quake 3 and Quake 4. (Quake 3 is 1999, right? Or was it 2000?)
The question ... what will the final # in the Quake series be?
----
My thoughts: I think if they make a Quake 5, and I bet they will, it will be the final Quake in the Quake series IF they don't finally do an actual sequel to Quake as Quake 5.
I think the Quake series has drifted far enough away from scary organic monsters to off to the land of aliens to blur the identity of the game.
I think if they make a Quake 5 and do it right, where doing it right is making an actual sequel to Quake with all monsters and no talking enemies -- because Quake monsters don't talk and maybe they don't even truly think -- in a nightmare dimension, I think there would be many more Quake sequels due to the success.
