Please share your exact multiplayer preferences

I think this would be interesting thread and very useful for future purposes.

The reason I bring this up is that a lot of times that I feel like playing Quake, I see what is going on and if I don't really like it, I don't connect to a server. Or if I am playing and, say, a terrible map comes up ... sometimes I leave even though I would rather play, but the map is horrendous.

CA - I love playing CA. I also find DM3 boring (I like Q1Edge!). I love playing just about any map that isn't DM3. But except at Bomber, this isn't likely to happen (CA+ crashes on non-DM3/Q1EDGE maps) and the players likely to be at a CA+ server tend to be the "live on DM3 types". I first found CA+ enjoyable a year or 2 ago when Max frequently was running Q1Edge.

Rocket Arena - I can get bored waiting in line when more than 6 players are present. I also dislike the funky maps.

Shmack - I like playing good maps there. But if too much annoying stuff (environmental stuff) is going on or if the maps are heinous, I don't like playing.

CTF - I don't like playing CTF with less than 6 players present, honestly. CTF is ok, but I don't want to be in a position where if I leave or want to take a break, the game falls apart.

Pure DM/CRMOD - Custom maps = excellent! ID maps = not interested at all.

Here is why I think the answers are important. I think many players like certain things and dislike other things. I bet if there were a mere 15 more players on servers on average, the amount of activity would go up significantly.

For example, if I see RA activity I often stop what I am doing and connect. I know this happens because all of a sudden 6 more players show up with 10 minutes.

I LOVE RA!! It is my favorite mod, mainly because I am the best at it (besides runequake). I hate waiting too Baker, but if you play good, you won't have to wait..

CA is fun too, especially at bomber with the custom maps. But not with TIcal there, he just dominates everyone. ehehe.

SHMACK is good, but it gets boring because I never get any good competition. I also hate all the bot-callers there... Bastards.

CTF is OK I guess, I'll have to try it again sometime. Last time I played it, I was actually doing pretty good.

CRMOD fine by me.. Don't really care what maps they are... Custom would be preferred though, makes it more interesting and fun.

CA+ - It's ok..
CTF - I can just remember old times of doing 2on2 on McKinley base
CRMOD - dm4/dm6 1on1's are always interesting. dm2/dm3 are the 2on2/3on3/4on4 maps for me.
RA - It's helps my aim and strafing but thats about it

I love FvF in Quest mode with like 3 people.
Runez is OK... but all the different runes being used against you with people that have 666 health rune, the deathspots on teleporters and kamakazi kind of ruin it. I think there should be a more ihoc-style play: like this.

Speaking of runes, I've started working on this year's new rune-set, which is dubbed "Chronic Rune Quake". Currently it's up to 13 new runes (4 of which are alternate methods of classic Rune Quake runes). The funniest one so far is called "Flame War".

CRMOD
when set to match mode, this really tests your ffa dm skills. Lots of carnage I love it.

CA
this is another mod that tests your dm skills but this time you have a team. Also your own rockets/nades don't hurt you so I can just speed run through an entire level.

This is the test of one man's endurance cause these matches go on for sooooo long I still like RA though, just not the flat maps.

CTF
I like CTF but I don't really get into it. Not a big fan of hook.

RuneQuake
You'll NEVER see me take this mod seriously. which means you'll never see me get 1st place. Slot does a good job maintaining the servers but runequake just isn't my thing.

RuneQuake+
Same opinion here but these runes are really fun to use. I think I went through them all now so it got boring

First server I visited on my return, I still find it fun. Gunter has been making lots of updates and bug fixes lately so it's almost a brand new server. I enjoy pushing Quad into lava and torturing Gunter so I can heal him for frags.

I really want to get a gang over there and try out the mod. It's WIERD!

I am pretty much a RuneQuake girl. I started playing just straight up Quake at Intertex many moons ago but once I found RuneQuake I never really went back.

I've tried CTF,RA, and IHOC but didn't find them appealing, RA can be fun though.

My only real complaint with RQ is grapple killing, I *HATE* it with a passion and in a fit of rage one of these days I am going to ban everyone who hooks me, I mean it.

It doesn't irk me so much when newb does it, because really, that's about the only chance some of them have to get a frag, but when people like Steve, Tia, others of their caliber do it it drives me nuts. I just think they are stooping to a level their Quake play doesn't require, if you know what I mean.

Other than that I love RQ, or I wouldn't still be playing after all these years.
