sorry to say this, but he's just using a ds video player. he's got it hooked up to the computer, and someone's playing quake ON THE COMPUTER while it looks like he's playing.

well, for one, the ds could not handle something is technical as quake, or graphics wise. second, even if he made the game, he couldn't sell it, nintendo would sue his ass so bad if he did...

We had hordes of PSP players show up in early April, I think it was good to increase the exposure of Quake, but it didn't seem so playable based on the fact those guys didn't stick around.

(Even the worst Quake players could easily kill most of the PSP players because they moved so poorly.)

I think a Nintendo DS port of Quake would be a very good thing because some of them have never played the original Quake.

GameFreak, there is a second video on his page where it shows him playing on the DS and you see his fingers using the stylus. It does look legit to me, what do you think about that second video that is further down on the page?

gamefreak, he isn't going to sell it, it's a homebrew. you have to own the game already just like the other source ports you can find here. i see no reason to doubt this. you can see the game load and the console output on the bottom screen, there is no way to do that with a video player for the ds, they only use one screen.

plus as you can see in the video of him playing, the game is not textured, it's just solid colors just like he says in his blog. why would someone go through all this trouble to fake something that is completely within the realm of possibility? he's going to fake how it looks and plays, fake it loading from a super card, and choreograph his stylus moving with a prerecorded movie?? i'm pretty sure it would be harder to fake this than to actually do it if you know how to program!!

and as for it being more than the ds can handle, i don't think so. metroid hunters is more graphics intensive than quake really. the ds is as powerful as a nintendo 64, which had a quake port!

btw, if anyone wants to help this make the front page of digg, digg it!!

baker: as far as the online play is concerned, i know i wouldn't want to play against a mouse user with a psp! ick!!

the touch pad on the other hand... i have played metroid hunters and honestly, the speed and accuracy is not that far off from a mouse and keyboard. mouse and keyboard would still win overall, but i think a ds player would at least have a fighting chance and would def get enough kills to have fun, unlike m/kb vs psp!

i really like the control in metroid hunters and think playing quake like that would rock, which is why i really want to see this get taken to the next level.

With the sudden increase in handheld quakers, we should create a handheldQuake-only server. Anyone below 300 ping get's the boot I'm thinking about the poor free fraggers
