Ok we gone over this in the past. I cant find a single host or box for boulder colorado. I spent hours looking when you told me about this months ago. If you find one that runs quake 1 or a cheap box let me know... im good at searching for things without questioning anyone but this one is tricky.

What you need to look at is the routing of the backbone,not a map of states.You need to have it as close to it as possible and ideally located where east meets west.I looked this up around 10 years ago when the info was freely available but it may well be classified now.From memory the main junctions were the capitol obviously,atlanta,boulder and maybe Indy.
Perhaps you could run it from a shell account and just pay for the BW used IDK.

Looks like St Louis is the most central hub to a lot of fiber.

Here is a host for some older games for 10 bucks a month in ST Louis but Q1 is not on the list but worth asking if they might install.

Now next step is get an ip for pinging purposes. I personally dont setup a server i can not ping.

Do you have any of the games on the support list installed? I so you test those on their service before making any commitment to their offerings.

Nevermind I found some of their servers and they do not respond to ping either.
I am of the same mind that if you can not ping them there is no telling where the server is actually located.

Find out what the west coast guys get there as it may be the best place for overall US players.

Hdz quaketx rage & dallas are all in texas.. i ping same to all.. 35-45

The texas servers seem to be the best. West coast guys get 40-60, East coast guys get sub 50. I was on dm.quaketx.com yesterday with about 10 ppl, and nobody had a ping over 55. It was pretty cool.

Its centrally located.. now people from upstate or canada ping above 50 on texas servers.
