Joequake won't save my preferances!!

Im trying to use joequake and set up my video options the way I like them, but next time I play it won't save my preferances? FTW?

You must be using JoeQuake 0.15

Jozsef changed the later releases of JoeQuake 0.15 to use cvar_savevars 0 by default, which does not save your config (he did this for speed runners).

You aren't the first person to notice to this. When I get a chance to build an installer for JoeQuake 0.15 it will have cvar_savevars 1 on by default somehow and I'll put a little notice in the installer screen that the installer isn't meant for speed runners.

(JoeQuake saves some cvars it really shouldn't imho that makes cvar_savevars 1 bad for speedrunners like the deathmatch value/coop and maybe some other settings that are not typically session to session saved cvars in Quake.)

You are not the first person to get annoyed by that, I already know that, but Jozsef is part of the speed runner community and that community uses JoeQuake almost exclusively for speed running.

The Fix!

Type this in the console: cvar_savevars 1

Quit JoeQuake and restart and you will notice that the config is saved and you will never have that issue again because it will then save by default forever!

(Except maybe when you use a gamedir like FVF where you will have to do that again).

Kinda stupid to implement those nice options then when you go back to play... ***GASP!!*** they're gone!!
