  • Quake beta content found in Half-Life alpha build

    Hello!
    You may have heard about the leak alpha build of Half-Life, if you have not heard, here's the link -http://www.valvetime.net/threads/hal...leaked.243023/
    I'm here because I have found something interesting in the files of this build.
    In the folder valve\gfx\STATUS\ I found variants of quakeguy faces.

    His head could explode and he looked really crazy under the effects of a quad damage.
    Also, I noticed the icons of items that may have been in beta.


    These icons I have not seen the release version:


    What do you think about it, guys?

    found that link as well; i think it's awesome to see anything about quake from 15 years ago that we havent seen yet!

    I really like those tongues on the quad face lol!

    I just checked and Qrack can load these maps. need texture wads to work.

      I really like the second set of the four faces presumably depicting varying states of damage. I wonder if these, or more detailed versions, are usable with clients like Qrack, proquake, or Engine X and if so how.

        Hey Mr. Burns,

        I also thought this when seeing these.
        The Quake guy really seems to suffer much more on them compared to the Q1 set.

        Regarding your question:
        All replacement supporting engines can use them.
        Just cut them into single faces/pictures with your favorite picture editor, name them like the original Q1 set ones and place them into the replacement subfolders.
        As you know, each engine uses different replacement subfolder for the HUD icons.
        Some use "ID1\textures\wad" (like Qrack), some use "ID1\gfx" (like DP), some will find them wherever you put them (like DirectQ).
