  • Quake in HTML5/WebGL

I saw this, figured you guys might be interested:

    https://github.com/SiPlus/WebQuake

Not supported in IE (IE is far from supporting bleeding edge tech), no multiplayer or decent mouse support

Imagine watching demos right in your browser?

Damn, that's pretty cool. It will still require a dedicated server for multi-player though. I'll be ultimately impressed when someone invents "host Quake". Maybe I will attempt it one day.

I tryed to test the demo on

        Quake

But it only says "Starting Quake..." and after that nothing happends...

EDIT: using Firefox, so it should work...

I am using Chrome and the demo crashed my Chrome tab. I hit refresh and it started up again and the gave me a popup alert that said "id1/pak3.pak is not a valid pak file"

I tried the one on quaddicted... it WORKED! But I have the game and all goodies locally so for me, WHY? Still cool though
Name's damage_inc, and killing is my business. Don't worry though, it's nothing personal! Oh wait... maybe it is

Under Chrome, worked flawlessly. Tried in console

              map start
              map e4m3

              and map e1m7

has no mouse support, but played flawlessly. When Chrome is like "Has stopped responding, would you like to close or wait" tell it to wait, and it will work.

Sound crashes Chrome on Linux and Mac.

Try to disable sound by adding ?-nosound after the URL or launch in Firefox.

The loading text also doesn't work in Chrome, but works in Firefox. So if you see backtile for 3 minutes in Chrome, that's fine.
