Quake HD Pack v1.31 or Rygel's ultra high textures?

I don't know which one to use.

In you opinion which one is better?

Hey Pikachu,
That is really a matter of personal preference, although a think there is now more a leaning towards using the QRP textures included in the HD pack. It's what I have and use. Actually I have many different Quake folders with a variety of textures, mosters, effects and on and on because I find it hard to settle for just one. The QRP is dominant for me though.

which id recommend is.... use neither


instead browse all over the FINISHED WORKS and WORKS IN PROGRESS parts of the forums and select all the stuff you like best yourself. make your own personal favourite compilation. so you'll have exactly what you want in it, and have everything in it that you think is best

itll take a while, but its well worth the time, cuz if you browse the forums and get everything you like most you'll find that there are a lot more gems available then are in either of those packs.

also... rygel's pack is waaay outdated even, thats a 2006 pack even, and in the 6years since rygel made his pack a looot of new stuff has been made.
and smith's HD compilation doesnt include a lot of the beautifull gems you can find on the forums either, some of which you might like very much


so as i said....
browse the forums yourself, dig for all the gems and find the skins and hd replacements and effects and such that you like best



its what i did myself. took me long to find all the gems but soooo worth it. :woot
i have an hd collection myself now which is unmatched, none of those 'hd packs' available even comes close to everything i have myself

the orge from in the shadows is too cool hes deff going in "my quake"

check these threads packs i made for use with the smc
they're multi-skin/model packs which contain my fave skins&models combo's


multiple skins for hi-poly monsters (SMC)
triple skins for ID1 monsters (SMC)



about ogre, be sure to check teamonsters hi-poly ogre... its sooo uber bad-ass
(packs with different skins and different versions of that one are also included in my hi-poly thread)

hey splitter have you ever put together a hd contemplation? if you havent, you should, because imo you know more than most in whats good, and whats not.

thanx sylux. yes i have a ton of hd stuff, i have pretty much ever gem there is to find on this forum myself, including some things i made myself.


but no, i havent made any 'HD compilation' myself, i presonally am not to fond of those hd packs which claim to have all the best there is, since its everybody's preference, and those packs often only get the one who put the pack together praise from everyone and the actual creators of the items included are often forgotten. most people who download those packs give praise to the one who packed it but have no clue the items are all created by different people.

also i am not looking for popularity or such, or praise by people for some 'amazing hd pack' i put together by collecting stuff others made.


however, if anyone wants ill gladly share a copy of my dp setup with all the addons i got.
whoever wants, just shoot me a pm and ill create a torrent of it


however i wont claim i have all the best stuff, i have all the items i personally like the most. some people may like it, others might not like some of the stuff i got and rather have different models or effects

so many choice available, and everyone like different things
thats why i always tell people to browse the forums and find what they like best, cuz there is so much choice of different models, textures , effects and such, and everybody likes different things
