Hi,
I don't normally log in to post things, but this has been troubling me since I found out about it a couple days ago. It's kind of a strange feeling.
I just wanted to thank you for posting this because I'm sure it is a difficult thing to think about in the first place, but I really appreciate being informed of these sad events.
Over the years, I played a heck of a lot of games with l33t. Being very close in age, we were kind of around at the same time. Sort of the same situation as me and ramp. We all grew up playing this game together as youngins' and now we're all adults. I'm not going to pretend I had forged a super close relationship or anything, but we spent hours on end playing this game together regardless.
I have always had a great deal of respect for l33t as a player and a person and I am very saddened to hear of this tragedy. I have used a lot of time online creating this online persona of a shit talker, mean spirited person, but in the end it was all just for fun. Circumstances like this really put things in perspective and are revealing my true character. I always got along great with l33t but I'm sure other people who have played games with me might wonder where this version of me has been the past 16 years.
I really just want to give my condolences to the family and those who are greatly affected by this loss. I want to sincerely thank his brother for making us aware. While I may not have met him in real life, it still feels like I lost a real friend. I wish the best to the family and I hope that we all never forget him. For the old school q1 players who have been playing a long time, I know we will not, but it's easy for the past to slip the mind.
Rest in peace. Gone but not forgotten.
Dave
