  • SP: Dawn of Eternity Nesp09

This is an enormous map, where other mappers would make an episode, Necros does it all in one. 260 monsters (a lot of them custom) and 9 clever secrets combined with Necros´ trademark epic scaled architecture make for an awesome experience.
The gameplay is a continuation of Necros´ previous maps: horde combat at it´s finest, and "nice" ambushes that will really test the player´s skills. Also, there is a secret level that requires careful observation in the main map to discover, and it´s an absolute blast.

One of the biggest SP maps for Quake ever (and therefor it requires a strong limit removing engine like FitzQuake 0.80, AguirRe´s engine or TyrQuake.

(sorry for the dark screens but I think you´ll get an impression)

Yeah, I've seen screenshots of what I believe what the end of the map on the recently defunct Singed.Net site. I won't ruin what I saw. I personally have been meaning to play this one.

I have not played every map Necros has made but I think I've played at least 3 of them, and 2 of them had me in complete awe while playing them and no doubt this is an outstanding map.

I wasn't aware it has 260 monsters, that is certainly a lot.

Note: I uploaded your screenshots to the QuakeOne archive and edited the links so the pics of the map will always be available for someone looking at this thread in the future.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Every spot of this map is branded in my brain like the sweetest nightmare. In my memories, I really went there.
The use of verticality and intricate paths around the place leads you to feel the architectural dimension of the building.
Running and hiding constantly from heavy attacks, while desperatley looking for your way, requires constant attention and motion.

Spare your ammo and shoot wisely. This will not prevent you from dying in many other ways.
Doing acrobatics up those beams avoiding lava balls... Mmmh...
Take a deep breath, jump in that pit and may your fingers not slip on the keys!

Dawn of Eternity is HELL - At least a part of it.

GREAT MAP!! Not too hard, but enough to give me a challenge. Fun blasting through hordes of custom, badass monsters. You have to learn their attack schemes a bit before you can really start dishing out the pain. I love maps like this, that have tons of monsters and are long. I highly reccomend it to anyone who enjoys beating the hell out of legions of monsters. The dragons provide a nice challenge, as do the flame shammys.

Like JohnXmas said, just conserve your ammo and try not to get hit too much, and you'll be fine. At least I was.
