This map doesn't look like much from the screenshots. It's old school. On Spirit's Quaddicted.com site the last sentence to describe the map is "OK."
In fact, the only reason I particuarly noticed this map is because I made an annoying mistake when adding QuakeWorld single player support for the Undergate and failed to disable the teleporter for this map as it will not load in QuakeWorld clients (in the next release EZQuake it will ... Spike, the FTEQW author knew why and, well, I digress).
Getting to the point, this map caught my special attention and I ended up playing it. After about 5 minutes, I was very impressed.
This is the ONLY map that I can recall playing that gives off a dungeon feel. You start off and end up going deeper and deeper into a primitive dungeon and eventually end up in a final area deep under the earth.
The map is challenging enough to real enjoy the play and the end of the map was not what I expected. It was not a "surprise ending" but rather I was surprised by where the journey ended.
