The area I was stuck on was tiny, on some kind of tower. I did indeed look around this place for a long time. And it was a really long time ago so I have long since lost the savegame

There was a known bug in some map. A missing parachute.
Not sure it's the one you're stuck with...
Read more about it here (top of page, 2nd post).
File download is broken but you can grab it here.
I really enjoyed Malice a lot.
Great TC!
...and QA made it available for Mac OS!
Actually, you can play Malice on OS X with MacNehahra, just like any other mission pack!
(forget GLQuake here...)
I'm going to host this mod. To hell with it. Quantum Axcess is now defunct, and you can't buy the game anywhere (apart from the second hand market). If this isn't abandonware, I don't know what is.
"Quantum Axcess was a software publishing firm based in Columbus, Ohio. They published value-priced games and educational software. Their two biggest titles were "total conversion" addons for the popular game Quake, named Shrak and Malice. Quantum Axcess never fully met their financial obligations in the production of these titles, spawning lawsuits from the games' developers."
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.
So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...
Remember to take it down when you get a letter from the friendly lawyer. If QA doesn't need money (assuming they still exist), I don't know who does.
They have an email address on their site. Someone from the US could just ask if they'll sell him a Malice CD.
I have sent an email to Quantum Axxess:
Is Malice for Quake still available for sale? If so, I would information on how one would be able to purchase a copy.
Thank you for your time.
We'll see what happens.

Quantum Axcess is dead... stone dead. I doubt if they even retain the rights to Malice and Shrack anymore/ They certainly haven't sold it for years. The official Malice site is down. The Quantum Axcess site hasn't been updated for 3 years (and doesn't even mention Malice or Shrack).
This pretty much sums it up. The official Shrack site (last updated 08/18/2003):
I recently sent an e-mail to QA.
I was really looking for the original CDs of Shrak and Malice.
(I got those TC from internet. But, of course, only the game files, not the music!)
Their answer was something like 'Nope. We don't sell them anymore. If you want, just get them from eBay' or the like...
Hey Megazoid!
You're going to host Malice, do you?
Will you do it with the music? Pleeease? :d
At least as a separate optional download?
Mmmh?
jX
(btw... still looking for Shrak music too... Err...)
... and the site is still there... sort of...
Dear Mr. Baker, thanks for your interest. We regret to inform you that you are a moron for playing a 10 year old game. Get a life.
I put ...

Your other theory ...
We could arrange to fabricate 2000 CDs for a sum of $ 5000.--
heh. though probably it will be less funny. real life always is.
LOL, that would be hilarious. I'd be laughing my ass off if that happened.

I've tested it and it seems okay. I'll have to look for the CD, and see what there is in the way of a CD sound track. I have it in the house "somewhere".
I played a couple of levels and it's pretty tough. My tips would be:
1. If you have a custom Quake config file, the essential Malice binds may not work as they should do. Move your custom config.cfg (and autoexec.cfg) from your ID folder (remember NOT to delete them), before starting Malice. You can move them back at a later stage. 2. Read the Malice.txt. No, really. Read it. There are 4 keys you can't really play the mod without knowing. The txt file is also interesting and kind of funny in places. 3. I had no trouble running Malice like any other mod. Unpack the zip file. Place the Malice folder in the Quake folder, and then something like "Start" > "Run" > C:\Quake\fitzquake080.exe -game malice
(changing frizquake080.exe to whatever Quake exe that you use). 4. Save loads. The levels are BIG and dying and starting again is a drag.
Malice is a really great mod. Every time I look at it (every couple of years), I think... holycow that is advanced. Even the cut scene with the robot boss guy has perfect lip sync.
Who does actually hold the copyright? It's confusing.
edit:
Linux people might need to convert the filenames to lowercase, at least the pakfiles. Linux makes a distinction between upper and lowercase, so when somethin wants to load pak0.pak and you have a PAK0.PAK you run into trouble.
Here's a script that converts all files in the current directory to lowercase:
#!/bin/bash
for filename in *
do
fname=`basename $filename`
n=`echo $fname | tr A-Z a-z`
if [ $fname != $n ]
then
mv $fname $n
fi
done
exit 0
Copy and paste to $home/lowercase
Make executable: chmod +x lowercase
Go to the mod's dir and do ~/lowercase.
