    Are you're taking about Glassman's *gmsp3.bsp*?
...yep. I fall on my knees!
The first time I saw this map was on the Singed.Net homepage in the flash photo browser, so I have to assume Diazoild really liked the map. It looked great. I eventually checked it out on the Underworld site.

It is a big map, the first time I loaded it up my computer went a little slow but then I closed some other applications out and restarted Quake and it ran ok.

Based on what I recall, you will need to be using DarkPlaces, [url=http://www.celephais.net/board]FitzQuake or JoeQuake or AguirRe's enhanced capacity GLQuake. I think I had to play with r_farclip set to 16384 and I played this last year with JoeQuake and -mem 32 is important.
Although I never finished it, although I tried about 3 times, it is an outstanding map with a high attention to detail.

Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

An amazingly made map. Very creative, and very much detail. The castle looks very real and medieval. i love it.

gmsp3 (Day of the Lords) by Glassman is THE best custom Quake map.

gmsp3 pays homage to the second (and perhaps the fourth) episode of the original, and takes it to the next level. The textures are some custom Unreal texes, converted by Glassman and used expertly. And man, just look at the lighting! The inside of this place is much more interesting than the outside, it is almost a dungeon map. I also like the weird mechanisms and lifts that you have to pass. Those are just sooo close to the original Quake style. And the size is just right, larger would be too much.

gmsp3 is what I'd imagine a Quake sequel to look like, and an example that all other medieval maps have to measure up to.

      It's a work of art.

The runners-up, IMO, are Vondur's Adamantine Cruelty, RPG's And All That Could Have Been, and Metlslime's Antediluvian.

Level design for first-person games can really be art. It should be called Virtual Reality Engineering! I can't stop being excited about it!

If you are hungry for more 3D art (like me), check out the first 100 Brush contest maps, especially the one by Gilt (the guy who made Lacrima). Very similar to gmsp3 with its use of extreme lighting.

Another similar map is of course "The Ogre Citadel" by John Romero, of which Romero said "You should have seen the original" (the map was downsized because it was too large for inclusion in Quake.) Also note the message in gmsp3, "Prepare for the last Oubliette" - a nod towards e2m6, "The Dismal Oubliette."

So if we were to start a Quake Remapped project, this would be the new E2M2 (just like "The Slipgate Duplex" would be e1m1, and "Antediluvian" would be e3m5.) As you can see, it's shaping up :-) Any takers for e1m2 or e4m1?

Now this is something my Quake heart likes to read!

What amazes me with this map is the way you never expect this castle so HUGE inside, when seen from the moat.
And the visual qualities mentionned above, equal the intense combat, challenging quest and tricky puzzles all the way through.
No grunt fart joke in the background here! This is pure gothic delight!
