(Not sure where to post this)..
Okay, I've been thinking A LOT about what Id is planning for the Quake remake. I just know they'll mess it all up for me, and most of you all too.
First off the Quake shotgun is a semi-auto. Just throwing that out there. It's a semi-auto that is so sawed off, it can be held with one hand alone (If you're the Quakeguy).
Here goes..
The storyline would be very similar to the original game. Scientist are working on the Slipgate device at the secret installation. The "Quake" is doing its thing (causing havoc and planning to release its army). Marines have been sent in, but none have ever returned. The Government is running out of ideas, so has decided to resort to criminals. You're a really (really) muscular type man who was sentenced to life in prison for a murder he didn't commit. You are the best choice for the job. So the player is like a Gladiator sent into an arena to kill or be killed. He will look like the original Quakeguy.
Other ideas would be: The weapons should be the same, only maybe 1 new weapon, and that's the enforcer's laser cannon. No new enemies (except maybe different types of possessed marines). The marines would look like actual marines and not look like the player. About 32 levels.
I think that the way enemies are hit should be realistic. If they're hit in the head, they die quicker, and if they're axed in the arm, it falls off. They can be killed realistically. Each enemy would react differently to these kinds of situations. Like the marine would either become a moving target because he has dropped his gun, or he still holds his gun, only can't aim well. The ogre would get more aggressive when in pain. The knights would be similar to how the Marines react, and zombies would still be able to live unless blown up, burned, or beheaded. The other enemies would also have many different reactions.
I think the way health works in RAGE would be best, but not for Deathmatch. In Deathmatch the way you die should be similar to the way enemies die (if shot in head, arm cut off, etc). Meaning more realistic. I also think that there should be no having to walk around and talk to people, maybe for the first part of the game when you are getting ready to enter the Slipgate, but not for the rest of the game.
That's about all I can think off, tell me what you all think.
