I don't even know what Royal Family they was talking about,and didn't find time to care.... The only reason I heard about it was TheDailyShow/ColbertReport , which I mostly watch just to laugh,and occasionally a topic arises thats worth researching and learning more. More often that not,it's laugh + quit.

Blimey, that's a surprise. As you can tell from the clip above, normally in the UK the Royal Family (quite justifiably IMHO) come under a fair amount of flack in terms of being satirized and this is the first public censoring of news footage of them I have heard of. Can't see it working to be honest and I seem to recall seeing clips of the royal wedding being used in comedy shows but the move is interesting nonetheless.

Judging by the amount of comedy material I've seen over the years directed at the royal family I find it very hard to believe. There would be an awful lots of satirists and comedians doing long stretches right now
Reading between the lines I'm guessing the initiative behind that particular article was an attempt to minimize the gold mine of comedy material a "royal" event usually offers to people like Private Eye, Ian Hislop, Luck and Flaw, Gerald Scarfe, most satirical panel shows (such as the news quiz, have I got news for you) , and so forth

Mr. Burns: the royal wedding was a state occasion. was an extra day off too, woo.
While I can't speak for other countries who share the queen, the UK is generally in favour, its some silly patriotic thing, I guess. Point is, take the piss out of a happy state occasion and you insult most of the country. You just don't devote air-time to pissing off most of the country. You'd have too many people refusing to watch your tv program or even entire channel.
Poor taste is poor taste. Remember that the queen is quite old now... Its really quite hard to satirise that, even for people that do want to abolish the monarchy.
Same as you don't show pictures of people's prophets with bombs instead of turbans, if you value your life/viewers/readership.

ForestMan, is it really any different from, eg, George Bush _Junior_?
