I'm worried she's gonna start taking to doing it to me 'cause the relationship she could have with me over it is exactly the same EXCEPT for the difference in approach I would have as opposed to yours.
God help me if she makes the connection that we have the same 'issues' and just different approaches in response...

I'm reading the first several posts between you and others here and feeling like I'm in the freaking Twilight Zone of intellectuality on the Internet because I've had the same issues on... other boards... like 3 other forums and the same problems.
I'm not kidding. Go look up my posts in ''www.clanapathy.net/forums/'', ''www.cromctf.com/forums/'', and ''www.theexiledknights.com/forum/'' (that last one is tricky becaues only registered accounts can view the forums... maybe workaround via Google Cache? )...
It's this same damn thing every time. I start out with well-written enough, I guess, thorough posts about some tech. issue or another.


Then people start heckling me about my posts being too long. It's usually about that point that is at what point the snowball starts rolling downhill.
Eventually it gets to the point that others are callin' me stupid, just for not getting along with others, as if to imply that just because I haven't 'figured out how to get along' means I am stupid.
So I'm arguing against their logic and in defense of why I'm not wrong and they are just making very small, less intelligent, and CERTIANLY less thorough counterarguments... that then get better support... because it's already 'multiple against one', they already have taken to trolling me on the side, and they are better at lying to someone's face on forums and playing dumb about it and making themselves 'cool' over it by being with everyone else on the issue...
Eventually it gets to the point that I'm supposedly pissing off everyone else on the boards and are causing problems and should thus 'be removed' for others' sake even though they are the ones persecuting me for being different in how I talk and otherwise being different in ways of thinking...


You would THINK that those more reputable figures with the highest post counts of all the board's members and otherwise board administrators would actually better serve as mediators and try to help those who are dealing with impossible odds of convincing the other side with everyone else's finger pointed at them so far that they can't even point a finger back at any one other person. You would THINK. I WISH I could tell you that these 'more experienced' folks could and would actually help.
Instead they are actually the biggest fucking spiteful trolls you will see on all the forums-- in a two-faced nature-- because they will happily be all cool and junk with others while still going out of their way to spite you in ways that only don't LOOK like that's what they are doing to those who don't have a better understanding of what people mean by what they say.
Then of course most people DON'T have a better understanding of what people mean by what they say and these other 'big forum heads' then take them onto their side by acting like they are 'one of them' in their intelligence level... when they are really only 'one of them' in the way that they think... and then get them on their side as you continue to battle agressively against the disparage itself without skimping on the explaination.
Which means it's that much worse 'cause it's not even like they don't know what they are doing... and it's not like anyone is gonna believe you if you try to explain what they are doing... and for that it can only mean one thing. It's that it isn't that they are STUPID but that they must actually be genuinely bad people. Those who use and abuse power at one single other's expense just to 'get off' on it, not EVEN for the sake of others, not EVEN for what they may claim are the reasons...


I came here to QuakeOne forums after finishing up my time in these other boards... on expectations that here things would be different.
Then there was Splitterface... Look up my posts in 'venting area' about id's tragedy in missed opportunities in numbering their franchises... It's that one titled ''FFFF... id! Y U insert le Stroggs between Q and Q3? ''...
I won't say YET if it's as severe with Splitterface in nature qualitatively as it is with these 'head figures' I've had these same issues you've highlighted here so often with in only the last couple of years on other forums... but I don't wanna risk it coming to being as severe quantitatively.
Unfortunately as it seems there's only the one difference in approach-- you disempower them by being 'not even mad' and just asking questions so you can 'use' their own anger back at you against them whereas I just argue outright against it as it comes up-- so as far as that goes I'll never have as good fortune with it as you do despite that it's pretty much the same issues at hand...

haha what a thread to revive! but seriously, she didnt mean anything by it. sure it was kind of rude, but hey, its not that big of a deal.

as far a post count, it does not matter in the least "how many posts someone has". it may gauge participation, but to see exactly whats going on, you have to see what it is they post. its about quality , not quantity.

Do you really feel the need to "prove" yourself on a forum? It's a big world, but with the internet it makes it seem a whole lot smaller. Realize not everyone is going to get along. You post and those that you severely don't get along with you ignore, simple as that.

Why waste energies trying to change or prove that which you cannot??? Example, you can simply ignore my posting if you like and then save your time to responding to those you feel are similar in thought to you and worth time responding to

I understand what you are saying H1CC. I don't know about you, but I don't really care what people say behind my back, in front of my face, around the corner, whatever... Anyone can say anything, It doesn't mean it's true or that they even know what the fuck they are talking about. Consider those people a waste of your time, that are wasting their time and all of a sudden they have nothing. If you want to throw them a bone, acknowledge them long enough to let them know that you honestly couldn't care less about their e-opinion, but you are gratified by their undying attention and concern (ie - middle finger with a bow on it).

edit: I'm not saying this is how you should react to Splitterface though. I thought her picture was rude too, but I don't see Splitterface starting a campaign against you. People are quick to jump to being a tyrant or a victim, while totally overlooking the most simple possibility. At any point, in a PM, you could have simply told Splitterface that you didn't appreciate her picture. I'm sure that could have led to some kind of understanding. Splitterface is not the devil. She's a girl that bleeds blood just like the rest of us.

Well thanks for trying to talk to me about it again, I guess, but all this 'advice' stuff isn't gonna get me to change how I do things anyway. That isn't to say more forceful means will either. I don't change for anyone but me...
Thank God this is in the Venting area, though, 'cause at least if it's in the right section more people than not are gonna actually read what you write and not just further the issues... at least in principle.


I think it's really because I never learned how to distribute my efforts in talking to people.
First of all I don't ignore people, ever, and then I guess I have something against 'picking and choosing' at what points you are gonna fight back... as opposed to just arguing outright against it every time it comes up.


It's this tear between knowing what is the reality of things and being against that that IS the reality of things.
How am I supposed to even begin 'working smarter not harder' when dealing with unreasonably expoitative types...
i.e. that they go out of their way to make you waste your time hurting you in the process losing less than you do...
when anything that will actually WORK in dealing with them is something I don't really wanna do because it goes against my belief in facing the issues head-on for what they are?


I'm not saying it's not something that would be worth my time to start doing... but it's something I don't even know if I'd really be willing to agree to... and even if I could it'd just be really hard for me.
I'm not saying it's as bad as giving up my side and just blindly going with the majority like these others I have the problems with do.
Merely learning to distribute my 'responses back' to avoid further conversing with those giving me grief for how I am... is a hell of a lot less bad than just plain changing how I am as a person to 'fit in'...
but it's still wrong in close to the same ways.


What was that old saying? ''wisdom to know the difference''? That you manage what you are struggling against by whether or not you could even do anything about it anyway?
I get all that... and I see others not having trouble with it... but for me it's something I've never been able to do. My whole life I've just plain not DONE the part about 'distributing' what you are fighting about to just what can be done anything about anyway... So I just wind up fighting anything and everything.
I dunno how others do it but as far as I'm concerned Serenity is a myth.
So then I think that's why I keep on suffering on forums and ingame, 'cause even though I'm sure as hell too smart to wind up dealing with it, it doesn't mean I don't always somehow wind up dealing with it...
