How about one of these web IRC pages? I'm pretty much on IRC 24/7 but it's not for everyone. A web IRC interface makes it easier.

Would be awesome because 90% of the time I am on my phone. Would love to chat when possible.

Solecord could style one of those up in about 2 minutes to identically match this site and simply add a new forum (chat), maybe a couple of threads in that forum to narrow down the type of chat and then simply embed the chats in those pages. For real it is so fast and easy he could do it in his sleep.

The chatrooms are a bit advanced as well. For instance, you can post youTube videos and watch them in the chatroom, among other things.

all 100% free. This company has been around for quite a while and I'll personally testify that their product is pretty damn solid. My Socom FTB1 clan used these for years.

Maybe like twice a year for a few hours the chat will sort of half disappear. It always comes back with not one character of data missing. My guess is server maintenance.

pro tip: all those colors, sizes and alphas you set just become vars in the embed script. Even the unique url for your chat is a var. So really if you wanted to make ex: 5 chats, you just have to spend the time getting the first one customized. All consecutive chats just need a unique name so, you basically just skip to the last step for consecutive chats and overwrite the url portion of the embed script for the first chat you made with the url of any consecutive chat.

This way the first chat might take a couple of minutes to create but all consecutive ones only take a second.

If you really want to get fancy, turn the embed script into a tokened php template that gets overwritten with db results. This way if you ever want to mass adjust the look of your chats you only need to change the values in one place.

I got sick with it on my clan site. We had a JS slideshow behind the chat that cycled clan/game related images. The chat was designed with a highly transparent black background so the images were visible but did nit obstruct or clash with the text in any way. I wrote all of that script and I can probably find it if it was wanted.

Or a web-irc interface like this: WsIRC - V 2.0 (I've not tested it properly. Just did a google search).

Shows up as usual irc window with user list etc.

We just need to pick a server, like gamesurge and register a channel.

The channel would have to be registered by someone like Solecord, if it is to be used as an official quakeone.com channel.

A simple alternative (less hassle than an IRC channel) would be a shoutbox addon/plugin for the forum.
