This level doesn’t grab your attention with any over the top architecture. Nor will you be dazzled by the chosen
textures. What you will get here is a plate full of gameplay served with solid level design on the side.

The second you “drop” in the action ensues. Rottweillers, Grunts, and Enforcers make up the list of enemies you get to slaughter which makes Jawbreaker too easy in my opinion. It does works well with the base theme and it is definitely fun while you’re doing it.

As I stated earlier, the level design is great. It pushes you forward at all times, never leaving you stumbling around trying to figure out where to go. It is basically a linear level though, and the architecture gets dull very quick. The texturing is done well as far as sticking with the theme but they become repetitive. I must say a tear came to my eye when I saw the Doom door texture in use again, nice touch.

I remember Jawbreaker being one of my favorite levels
back in the day, but time has taken its toll. It just can’t compare to the newer levels released. Even using a new graphics engine it looks tired and weathered. So the question is should you download it? Yes. Jawbreaker deserves a spot in any Quake fans archive.
