Hunted...?
by: Insano, 10-21-99
I was standing there, in an underground garage with my teammates. Several
strongly built soldiers, two medics, and a Heavy Weapons unit. We stood
their nervously, glancing at each other. We were all waiting for him. The
President. A noise. A clank. We all glance to the source of the sound, an
open vent. The rockets fly past us, grenades, explosions, as blood and
bones seep out of the vent. A hiss sound. The platform drops. The chubby
little man with the umbrella walks towards us. "Let's go." Are his only
words. The two medics cover him with their body, constantly trying to heal
him. As we approach the opening of the tunnel, a red light flashes over my
eyes. I turn around, in time to see it come to rest on a fellow soldiers
head. I try to warn him, but it is too late. A crack, and he explodes in a
gory mess. Our morale drops. We trudge forward into the opening. Chaos. Two
soldiers and the medics stay with the president, as I and the rest of us
rush on. I fire several rockets into a dark window, making sure nobody is
lurking in the shadows. Out he flies, the sniper dressed in yellow.
Stunned, he stumbles toward the president. They don't see him. I am in the
midst of reloading, I cannot help. I hear a wind-up behind me, as bullets
fly into the snipers body. We clear the path for him, running through
tunnels and ally ways. The most dangerous part of the mission is at hand.
We walk into an open field, and a medic scurries up a ladder to open the
gates to the presidents escape vehicle. We quickly rush him towards the
truck. The door opens, and a thunderous crack breaks the silence. He
stumbles backwards, against a wall, and slumps to the ground. A pool of
blood seeps out from under him. We realize what has happened, and all turn
towards the open door. There sits a lone sniper. A few seconds pass, and
all at the same time, we unload our grenades on him. The van sits for a
short while after the explosions pass, before catching on fire, and
exploding once again, sending debris in all directions. Flash! We are back
where we started.
