Didn't you see the "armory" sign, just outside the cells?
Hit the door... It will open to a room full of anything you may want to take out a sentry
BTW with only an axe, it's very hard to kill anything..:)
Last thing, I think that during the Quad period, a diguised spy could murder the sentry.
