Once you have decided on the structure of the clan a number of other issues need to be resolved. The people start to come in, now you need them to do something... Here in the order of importance are some positions on a clan you can to give out so as to have a functioning team. It has to be noted that, except for the clanleader, you can have a number of people running around who deal with the same subjects.

This is to be recommended as it might happen that people change clans, or drop out all together. A good promotion system, and sharing of knowledge will make sure that continuity is preserved. Please take into account that these functions are not meant to create a huge administration and possibly a friendly post system, it is only meant to involve all clanmembers actively in the clan. It must also be noted that in peace time there is a subsidiary responsibility for keeping the clans together. This, in simple language means that the clanleader keeps in regular contact with the leaders (socialising), the leaders keep in regular contact with the aides/squadleaders, and the squadleaders keep in contact with their privates. This makes sure that even the lowliest of recruits will have the idea that this clan is not a far away thing that irregularly sends emails about issues that nobody cares about anyway.

War Functions

1. Clanleader
The clanleader is of course the most important person on the team. Not in the absolute, by-the-grace-of-God sense, but in an organizational sense. This is the person who will steer the activities of the clan and will direct its policy and its stance on a number of issues. The clanleader is the person that binds the clan together before it has developed a teamspirit. During battle the clanleader makes sure that a strategy is followed, and directs the clan during battle by giving orders to his second-in-command.

2. Defense Leader
The Defense leader is second-in-command of the clan. This person runs the defense during a match and/or  co-operates with the Clanleader in thinking out defensive strategies for maps. Everyone dealing defense falls under him/her. The Defenseleader is also responsible for developing an effective communication system for defensive purposes. In the absence of the Clanleader the defense leader takes command of the clan. In case the clanleader steps down, the Defense leader and Offense leader are candidate for the post.

3. Offence Leader
The offence leader is third in command of the clan. The offence leader runs the offence actions during a match and/or assists the clanleader in setting up offensive strategies. Like the defense leader, the offence leader thinks out an effective communication system for the offence. In the absence of both the clanleader and the defensive leader the offence leader takes charge of the clan.

4. Squad Leaders
Squad leaders run squads of 3 to 5 people. They are responsible for these people and should take care that their squads follow orders regardless. The squadleader is also the first point of contact for a recruit. Squadleaders, based on their abilities, also mentor new recruits and train old recruits. A squad should be able to execute commands perfectly, for which the squad leader is responsible.

5. Aides
Offense and Defense leaders, dependent on the size of the clan have up to 3 aides, these aides assist the leaders in the execution of their duties. Their rank is divided into seniority: A senior aide has the rank of squadleader, a junior aide that of recruit. Aides are to be picked from the ranks of these. In case a Defense or Offense leader steps down the most senior aide in their group will take over as leader.

Peace posts

1. Intelligence Officer
The Intelligence Officer is responsible for the flow of intellience to the Clanleader and his staff. This person, should get a dispensation to drop the clantag, if necessary and gather information on other clans and players. Reports containing fixed and relevant elements should be made and made available to the leadership of the clan. This will help the leadership in determining strategies for specific clans or players.

2. Spokesperson
The Spokesperson is the most public figure of a clan, he/she will bring relevant news to the attention of the newsies, and ensure that the clan is registered at relevant websites. The spokesperson will also update the newssection of the website regularly. The spokesperson will have the rank of aid to the Clanleader in peace time, and recruit or squadleader in war time.

3. Recruiter
The recruiter is responsible for the recruitment of new team members. In cooperation with the leadership of the clan he/she will report on promising players and invite them to recruitment matches. The recruiter is esponsible for the memberlistings on the website and bringing outstanding performance to the attention of the clanleader. The recruiter has the rank of aid to the Clanleader in peace time, and recruit or squadleader in war time.

3. Mentors
Mentors are senior squadleaders who train new recruits in the usage of binds, classes, and communications. They teach them how the clan works and whos who. Furthermore, if a new recruit makes a mistake during a match, it is the first the mentor who should stand for the recruit or reprimand the recruit. For the sake of diversity a clanleader who appoints mentors should take care that a diversity of classes is taken into account.

Units

1. Recruiting Unit
The recruiting unit consist of the leadership of the clan, the recruiter and the intelligence officer. These people find and decide upon new recruits. The recruiter should approach them, but the leadership decides on the recruitment.

2. Propaganda Unit
The propaganda unit consists of the spokesperson, the clanleader and anyone else involved in PR of the clan(for instance: the webmaster). This also includes a number of recruits who go out on IRC. The propaganda unit is their to spread news on the clan. The unit monitors news boards, IRC, and relevant news groups. The unit gives the clan a public profile and image by actively joining discussions and submitting articles.

3. Intelligence Unit
The intelligence unit gathers information. This means that the intelligence officer together with the defence and offence leader, and if necessary selected recruits/squadleaders monitor other clans for developments, set up a database for info on members of other clans and keep track of the relevant clans performance in leagues. They report back to the clanleader. The information gathered can be used in the preparation of clanmatches.

4. Map Strategy Unit
The map strategy Unit consists of the Defense and Offense Leader and a number of recruits. It is their task to download and test the newest maps. These tests should result in a report on possible offense and defense set ups. From this collection the clan canbenefit if and when the map is used for a match. (Proposing a relatively unknown map for a match, whereby you have already played the map a number of times gives you a strategic advantage over any opponent: you know the terrain, while the enemy is still getting used to it).
