you keep troops ready to keep the pressure on the enemy. One direct attack with all your troops, in most cases, will only earn you a difficult victory as you increase the pressure like a tidal wave, and then you leave it (because your troops are getting killed). Now, if you keep a constant pressure, your troops will be more likely to gain tactical victories, and through the constant pressure the enemy will be forced to fall back. Layers will be as follows: Offensive: Pyro, demoman, soldier Reserve: scouts and offensive layer people Defensive: Hwguy, medic, engineer, sniper Scenario:Offensive attack. A killed offensive will immediately be refreshed by a reserve troop. The respawned offence takes ammo and runs to reserve. Engineer and medic enlarge health, armour, and supply ammo to falling back offensive and reserve troops.Sniper and hwguy defend base (together with the engineer and medic). If offensive reaches perimeter of flag/key/crystal-base, scouts run in, throw concussion grenades behind enemy lines and perform scoring function. Offensive fall back to outside of enemy base giving enemy no possibility to counter attack, other then in territory with unknown defense.Reserve then fall in as offence and start second attack, former offensive are patched up by medic and engineer. Theoretically this should work, but it requires a discipline that can only be asked of clans. Clans are then advised to practice regrouping, falling back, and changing position. A friendly match could then give some practice to the principle. 2.To take control of an area use the following tactic a. Throw in grenades to clear the field. b. Use combination of soldier and pyro to clean out any "unwanted" guests. Do not stamp into an area with the bulk of your troops: in many maps doors are small and easily targeted. If the enemy defense is not crossable directly, then hold position and move forward in a way that reserves can reach you easily. If they counter the attack and are able to drive you back, fall back and regroup on friendly territory. In other words: if the enemy is able to resist your attack then lure them into defended area and kill them on home ground. If the enemy follows you he will walk into the combined force of three layers of your group. 3.Keep, fast moving classes out of the area of the enemy for as long as possible, and only bring them in as a last resort or to finish them off: an enemy pyro trying to aim for a scout is a sitting duck. 4.In general, the following rule should be considered: grenades are usually more effective then gunshots, as they kill instantly, and cover a wider space. The negative side is that once you have used up your grenades you have to go back to get more. 5.The battle order (in layers) should be observed at all time, so as to keep the defense strong and the offensive supplied. |
