  Miscellaneous

You can only change classes during a game if the server allows you to. If you are the server, you can allow this by setting the deathmatch variable to 3.
E.g. In the console, you type:

      deathmatch 3

Players will be able to change classes now. See the readme.txt file for more info.

Where can I find TF Maps?
Currently, there's no one-stop repository for TF Maps, due to the fact that there are many different TF map-makers. TFS is currently working on providing this service, which will be available here when it's done.
Until then, I suggest checking out these places:

Where can I find TF Servers?
We don't maintain a list of normal quake TF servers, due to the trouble it takes to keep it uptodate.
But, there are currently approximately 90 QuakeWorld TF servers attached to the TF master at idsoftware. If you don't know what QuakeWorld is, I suggest you check out QuakeWorld Central. It has all the files and info you need to get QuakeWorld running.

  Errors

Why do I get a Not enough RAM. Try using -heapsize 1600
error when I connect to QW TF servers?

There is an error in the QuakeWorld message. It should read '-heapsize 16000'. We recommend launching quake with the command line arguments: '-zone 1024 -heapsize 16384'.

Why do I get a CL_ParseServerMessage: Illegible server message
error when I connect to QW TF servers?

This message occurs when you are using a different version of Quake to the server. You should upgrade to WinQuake 1.07 or later.
You can usually get around it by reconnecting to the server: type "reconnect".

Why do I get an error about not having *16.mdl when I connect to a server running the Hunted map?
An invalid version of the Hunted map was distributed a while ago. To fix this problem, you need to get a valid version, which you can download here.

  GLQuake and GLQWCL

Why can't I see the correct skins on other players in GLQuake?
GLQuake handles skins differently to normal Quake, and hence, the normal method of setting skins doesn't work.

Why can't I see the correct skins on other players in GLQWCL?
GLQWCL handles skins like GLQuake when the noskins variable is set to 1, and handles them like normal QW when the noskins variable is set to 0. When playing a QW TF game with GLQWCL, make sure the noskins variable is set to 0, by typing in the console:

      noskins 0

My computer locks up when I try to run GLQWCL with TF 2.5!
GLQWCL cannot handle animated skins... something we found out about after we released TF 2.5. There is a fix for it, which you can download here. Just unzip it into your fortress directory.

If you've got the Fix, and you still have the same problem, it's because there is no TF pak0.pak in the fortress directory. If you got all the TF files by connecting to a QW server, or you unpacked the TF 2.5 pak0.pak and deleted it, the Fix won't work.
Simply rename the pak1.pak from the Fix zipfile to pak0.pak and it should run fine.
