Problem: The New Models I'm Using Are Warped Into A Jumble!
Solution: You forgot to clear out your GL Directories. These directories are
located in the following three folders of your Quake Directory. (Folder 1, 2, 3)
Delete all mdl files within each of these folders, and you will be fine.

Problem: I Don't Know How To Make A Pak.
Solution: Download Pak Explorer. This can be found at
TF Convoy. Next. Open up
an existing pak in your quake/id1 directory, and note a number of things. (Possibly even
write them down, if need be.)
- The Names of the Directories.
- The Names of the Files you want to replace.
- The Name of the Pak.
You need to use these as guidelines. Your pak needs to have directories of the same
name and your replacement files need to have the same name as the files you are
replacing. (Example: A replacement rocket launcher would go in the directory
models/ and the file would be named rock2.mdl.)
After placing what files that you choose into the pak, now you need to save the pak
file. The name of the pak files are arranged in a sequential order. (Example: If your
fortress directory has the files pak0.pak and pak1.pak, then
you need to save your new pak as pak2.pak.)
Note that you do not have to include all of the files included in the main pak file.
The way paks work is this: If you have a pak (pak2.pak) with only a replacement rocket
launcher (rock2.mdl) in it, and nothing else, that rocket launcher (rock2.mdl) will
replace any rocket launcher (rock2.mdl) file included in any of the paks (pak0.pak and pak1.pak)
loaded before it, and all other files will be loaded off the previous pak files(pak0.pak and pak1.pak)
.
