New look in the making
I am finally working on a darker look for this site. Here are two examples: Map Description, Interview
Any feedback is welcome. The logo’s borders will be fixed. I know the interview text is kinda hard to read now. If there is interest I would create a lighter style to use locally (Opera or Stylish).
File structure changes
I just moved the descriptions to www.quaddicted.com/reviews and the screenshots to www.quaddicted.com/reviews/screenshots. Adding some meaningful error messages and/or automatic redirecting for the old links is scheduled for later today. Sorry for any inconvenience.
PS: You get an imaginary cookie for every screenshot or description that is missing now. ;)
update: There is a decent “404 – File not found” error page now. With Javascript enabled it will suggest the new link if you looked for http://www.quaddicted.com/*.html, http://www.quaddicted.com/*.xml or http://www.quaddicted.com/screenshots/*.jpg. That should be sufficient. Huzzah!
Quake Expo 2008 recap
Quake Expo 2008 is over and I guess it is time for a recap of interesting news:
The old commercial missionpack Abyss Of Pandemonium has been bugfixed and freely released as Abyss Of Pandemonium – The Final Mission v2.0. Entar’s map for Cocot’s Transloquake has been released. erc shared a nice list of his comments on various maps. necros released fresh maps for Quoth. negke finally released Skinny Norris. Speedmaps!. lurker released a fantastic “edit your map’s entities in-game” mod, wow. Lardarse pushed out a modification of e1m1rmx with very different gameplay (you collect keys). Tronyn released Soul of Evil: Indian Summer and more.
Distrans, goldenboy, ijed, JPL, madfox and Matthias Worch are working on new maps.
Of course there have been much more releases, mods et cetera. Go browse through the booths (Hint!).
And if you like machinima then watch these (Quake 3 Arena but what-the-hell. :) ).
Reworked map listing
I spent several hours to be able to be even more lazy in the future. The spmaps.html now points directly to the XML files which are then rendered by the browser. Firefox is broken so there is a javascript to make the links point to a php script (which transforms the XML to HTML) instead. Many thanks to megaman for the help with this. It seems that some browsers render the pages very weird though, Google Chrome and Epiphany at least. Well, I could not care less, but if someone finds the culprit in my code, please shout. Some other browsers put the screenshot above the description and not aside of it, also a very weird bug in my opinion. Oh well, it does not make the stuff less useful.
Last chance for Coop & more Interviews
The coop server will be gone in about 3 days, so if you want to play some, be quick.
I posted more interviews, check in the QExpo Booth which ones are new (lazy? me?).
And the rmx pack has finally been released (QExpo Booth), I’ll (probably) make a news post somewhen later (told you I wasn’t lazy). It includes a fantastic, well balanced, nicely textured, incredibly detailed map with magnificient brushwork by yours truly… *cough*
