Not yet. In the scheme of things, this was not ever meant to be the final one and I decided to invest my time and energy to close in on the "final version".

But I did read your bug reports and they will be addressed.

no demo fast forward? I just waited 20 mins to record the last 30 seconds of a demo to avi and it erred out as soon as I pressed capture!!!

Please don't think that this is any kind of final version of the engine.

The word "Beta" is your big hint. That means it's unfinished; that means that if a feature is not present in this release then it signifies absolutely nothing.

You must admit that you came across as if you were demanding/complaining rather than just requesting a feature. It's all in the tone.

Compare to: "demo fast forward would be nice to see in the next release as it would help with cases where you want to record the last 30 seconds of a 20 minute demo". Versus "what! no demo fast forward! you just wasted 20 minutes of my life!", which is what your post read like.

Knowing Baker though he's probably going to add "jump to specific time in demo" as well as fast forward. He's like that.

maybe you shouldnt read into the "tone" of a forum post.

It has demo fast forward and reverse (with interpolation even in reverse! Animation smoothing, etc.)

Press PGUP/PGDN while viewing a demo.

[I think it even shows demo playback progress percent if you press TAB.]

Relevant cvars: demospeed (max 20), demorewind (0 or 1)

                      Oops. That's ProQuake 4.51.

In Engine X, I opted to go with Qrack/JoeQuake keys for the time being.

Left and Right Arrows for (forward/backward) and up down arrow keys to speed up or slow down. Enter resets.

(I don't like the Qrack keyboard demo control scheme (seems unintuitive), but couldn't think of a better implementation. So far, at least.)

Qrack does up arrow speed up dOwn arrOw slow down left arrow to reverse right arrow forward enter resets normal speed-forward
not the most intuitive but it was a quick hack job...

Better than the nothing I came up with up as something better.

The pageup/pagedn I used for ProQuake for fast forward/fast rewind was ok, but doesn't allow precision.

                              Hi Stal1n

I didn't know Baker had ported it to MacOS, well you learn something new every day
I would first try and do the obvious things like ensure there are no routers or firewalls blocking your access to the server and also make sure you have the latest stable build of your engine of choice.

You can also connect to a server by typing the appropriate command instead of going through the menu. Perhaps try going in to Console and typing the following:
                              Code:
                              Connect bigfoot.quake1.net
...and then press return. Your quake client should try to connect to the Euroquake server in Germany. If you connect OK then close your console and start playing. If you don't get a response then perhaps try and post the error message back here and I'm sure someone will try and help you.

                              Kind regards
