Alright, does anyone make maps for this anymore? I get some free time from time to time, thought about a map or two.

absolutely, people still constantly make maps for quake
            https://www.quaddicted.com/reviews/

just click on the 'date DMY' at top and you'll see that the last new map was even just made a week ago

            .

on another note: why do we still not have a sticky thread to help people get back into quake linked on the main-page?
i cant count the times people have made threads about this same thing,
we really need a big link on mainpage called 'GETTING BACK INTO QUAKE?' or something like it
like put it right there at left-top at the 'quakeone help'

i know there's a thread about this cuz i contributed a tutorial for setting quake and mission-packs up with darkplaces,
            http://quakeone.com/forums/quake-hel...tructions.html
why isnt there a big link on mainpage linking to that thread so that new people will notice that first away and wont keep asking?

            .
are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?
            > then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <
everything that is out there for quake and both mission-packs, compiled into one massive thread

I looked over the thread but it doesn't point me to what program(s) people use for making maps. There is a program that people use for QuakeLive, wouldn't that work to map a Q1 map?

I actually have the radiant program that's used for QL stuff but I also got the warcraft one to try. Might work on something over the weekend for ya guys to try out.

                      Setting up and using Radiant

                      Compiling a Quake 1 map | spawnhost

Radiant: Doors, Triggers and co. | spawnhost

                      Rotating doors | spawnhost

Q3bsp for Quake tutorial | spawnhost

Radiant: Patch meshes (Curves) | spawnhost

check those links, those should get you a long way

                      .

also, if you do decide to use GTKradiant, be sure to check out these neat packs from gypsy:
                      Quake Model Entities for Radiant
Rogue Model Entities and Game Pack for Radiant
using them allows you to see items in the map in radiant while you are building it
personally find it quite usefull cuz it allows you to see how the map will look with monsters and items in it without having to compile the map
                      .

                        Hello Deathwish,

Why not flow with the time and use a Modern Level Editor for Quake ?

It has already most of the mentioned things included out of the box.
I am no mapper, but the community already likes it a lot.

You should check it out for sure, as it is made especially for Quake from Quake lovers.
Which is always a good thing.

                        Best wishes,
                        Seven

Okay, maybe I'm not doing something right but I can't get the textures to load so I can't texture anything. I looked on both the site and the forum.
