This is the one. However, i just deleted it then verified the files again so i get the PAK0 again.
You do not need the pak files that come with Quake HD Pack. Those are shareware versions just in case you do not have the retail version of quake. If you bought yours from steam just use the pak files that come with steam installation. Also, the progs.dat in the pak0 file will we overridden by any progs.dat in the root id1 folder or in a pk3 file. In Quake Hd Pack it comes with Seven's SMC version 4.55. Inside of the DP_SMC_id1__v4.55_Seven.pk3 file is the progs.dat that should be getting used automatically. Make sure you are getting the proper versions. For instance Quake HD Pack was updated and has a patch fix. This is where the latest version is with the patch fix. I recommend uninstalling quake, delete local quake folder, reinstalling quake (will take 5 minutes or so) and dropping everything from the Quake HD Pack into the Quake root folder except the pak files (pak0.pak) that are located in the id1 folder of the Quake HD Pack zip file. Once you do that make sure you are running Darkplaces as your engine of choice by i believe renaming darkplaces.exe to glquake.exe or similar to fool Steam to using Darkplaces.

Also, to help out with your problem its helpful to run the game again with the problem and do a condump debug in the console. It will make a file called debug that will be located in (for windows users) Users\YourUserName\SavedGames\darkplaces\id1\
    for linux: ~/.darkplaces
Open the file with any text editor and place it in a pastie so we can view it. Also in those same folders check for a config.cfg and delete it. Also delete or backup any old saved games you may have had before using the Quake HD Pack as this can also cause problems if you are loading saved games. Get back to us with your findings.

I always make sure that everything is up to date so yes i do have the 1.45 patch. I'll go ahead and try this again and let you know what happens.

Alright so. I just did an extensive test of the PAK files and the HD mod. I made sure that i used the previous PAK files that i backed up before all of this started happening and it still didn't work. I tried the normal Vanilla Quake with Darkplaces and that worked normally. The only time the progs.dat acted up was when i implemented the HD files into the "Id1" folder. Taking those files away without verifying the game files for a fresh copy was the only was the progs file wouldn't break. Yes i patched the HD pack correctly and tried just about everything else. I didn't even modify the PAK files for water transparency just like you said but still nothing. The only HD Quake that i can play is the one i made using some of the files from the HD pack itself. I'll send a picture to show you the only way it worked even though the game isn't completely HD like it should.

Sorry for the rushed info, but I've been busy today. All i know is that there's something wrong with the actual HD pack itself and not my progs.dat.

post about it here instead, at the page of that compilation
          http://www.moddb.com/mods/quake-hd-pack-guide

i have no idea how the compilator compiled the pack and where they fucked up

          .

or.... you could just go here and put together your own HD setup from all the possible replacement content available
          http://quakeone.com/forums/quake-hel...tent-list.html

antyhing in that "quake HD" pack is taken from these forums, and there is much more alternate stuff available,
some of which you might like more perhaps then what is in that pack
          .
are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?
          > then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <
everything that is out there for quake and both mission-packs, compiled into one massive thread

I was already going to inform the mod dev. Thanks for the assistance regardless

sures. cant help with any compilations though, since i dont use them

i dont believe in compilations, as there is no 'perfect' compilation.
since 'perfect' is subjective and is different for each person
