If you're using it for windows to run quake...just unzip it and drop the ID1 folder from quake into the folder. Then double click darkplaces.exe and voila.

I dont know whats in the .app folder...but my advice for that as well as the other one, is simply leave it alone.

One of those is the engine source...its not important, but its also not hurting anything.

I would either try downloading an older version of darkplaces, or open up pak.0 and pak.1 with pakexplorer and replacing invisible.mdl with a placeholder mdl and see if that lets it load past it

If running Windows, you only need darkplaces.exe, darkplaces-sdl.exe and all those .dlls, the rest can be deleted. The rest is mac specific files, source and linux binaries.

The folder hierarchy should be like this:

            Quake
            |
            id1 --> pak0.pak, pak1.pak
            |
            darkplaces.exe and all dll files.

If there is config.cfg in id1 folder, rename/delete it to start with fresh config.
I'm not on Win now, but on Linux, but I've been using the latest official w/o any such problems, even with vised PAK files.

Well, that's the point - you shouldn't need it at all. Are you sure the pak files are not corrupted e.g.?

invisbl.mdl comes with Quake. So long as you have everything set up OK you shouldn't need to do anything else with it. Likewise you most definitely should not need to be copying and pasting anything aside from the engine files around.

My normal advice with things like this is to reinstall Quake to somewhere you can easily find it later (like C:\Quake), then make sure that you can run standard WinQuake or GLQuake OK.

The next step is to try out a simpler engine. One that doesn't come with a load of extra files, one where you just need the exe and nothing else to run it. DarkPlaces is powerful, but with great power comes great responsibility, as well as a need to know what you're doing first. So let's practice with something easier before we move on to the hard stuff.

Try FitzQuake for example. Download from the "executable" link on that page and extract the zip file. (I wouldn't recommend my own DirectQ engine in this case as it will find your Quake folder and run OK, but that will do nothing to help you get DP running).

Then copy FitzQuake.exe into the same folder you have WinQuake.exe and GLQuake.exe in. This might be C:\Quake (it should be if you've followed my advice), it might be C:\Program Files\Quake, it might be C:\Games\Quake, it might be anything. If you can't find it then use the Search in Windows.

Double-click on FitzQuake.exe and it should run OK. If it doesn't work, you likely still have things set up wrong so backtrack and do it again.

Now you're ready to move on to DarkPlaces. Let's not mess around; just unzip the DarkPlaces download and copy everything from it to that same folder where you now should have GLQuake.exe, WinQuake.exe, FitzQuake.exe, an ID1 folder, and maybe a few other things.

                    That should get you working.

Nobody's going to do this by the way, it's illegal.

Maybe it's not a problem, I dunno, but are your pak files patched to 1.06? I don't know if Darkplaces accepts original unpatched paks or not, I always used the 1.06 ones.

Just do what I said and see if WinQuake and GLQuake work OK first. Let's not speculate on PAK file corruption or anything else until we have more info, it's only going to confuse things further.

actually i found out that its the problem with my os rather than the game or engine see i went to my other comp which runs XP instead of 2000 like the one i am currently on right now as i am typing and going to be for he day. i have 2 comps bc xp is my office on and this is my game one .... well i think it has to to do with the Video Cards the one on this comp has no card slot and is assigned to one which is an ATI thats why it doesnt run on this comp but my xp one runs it perfectly.....

Dayumn, this is tough to decipher. Even glitch forms sentences in his posts. Why would a video card be the reason for a missing invisible.mdl?
