no its the video card the mdl was there the entire time my video card on 2000 cant support but on XP its a breeze

What kind of video card have you got on 2000? You mention ATI - is it one of those horrible old crippled ones or something reasonably decent?

it can run gl and other games like wg and gl quake pro plus half life op4 Bs and Hl itself and blizzards diablo 1 and 2 starcraft brood war and original.... i say its decent but it cant run the textures or the renderer of darkplaces and tenebrae
