Dual core vs. Single core CPU

Well, I copied the te_explosion entries from the same effectinfo.txt found in the latest version of dpmod. It seems to be working ok. I'm still getting a big framerate drop when I get hit with a grenade,but it isn't AS bad.

I see that you have to struggle for every little fps.
I also see you wrote, that you use the latest DP beta build.
If you dont use the latest beta or autobuild but use the 3rd february 2011 build instead, you will gain around 15% fps increase with ease.
You should try it. There is no negative side effect.
Even better: The "DP New Teleport" works as it should with 3rd february build.

HOLY CRAP! THIS ALMOST DOUBLED MY FPS. WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST TELL ME THAT IS THE FIRST PLACE...YOU BASTARD!

Still can't run RT World, but I WAS even able to bump up a few settings! Seven...you...kick...ass. The LOWEST my FPS ever drops now is 45, and that is ony when I have weather effects and pretty water at the same time.

So, my next question is...why are more recent DP versions actually WORSE (in terms of performance) than this one?

They're not officially released builds, so they should be treated as debug/test/working versions. By their nature these may contain unfinished code, inefficient implementations of some things, and a lot of extra checking or likewise that may reduce performance.
