models go in /progs folder like normal Quake.
If you only want to use those with qrack put them in the /Qrack/progs folder.

ROOK! Dude! Please have mercy on me, stay for just a few minutes, this is killing me. There is no progs folder in my qrack directory. no textures folder. no models folder. What are you guys talking about?
I DL'd the bestiary from quake reforged. Is the stuff I recevied called "skins" or "models?" What do I do with this stuff???? And then how do I activate it?

This completely answers your question...
I am pretty sure Retextured and Reforged both use PK3 formats.
Rename the file's EXTENTIONS from .PK3 to .ZIP....
Extract the ZIP's to the locations R00k said will work!!!
"gamedir" means stick the extracted stuff from ZIPS into a custom folder in your Quake foler.... eg , C:\Games\Quake\cool\
Everything from the ZIP's will go into the COOL folder!
Right click your glQrack.exe in your Quake folder, CREATE SHORTCUT !! Move that Shortcut to your Desktop. Right click on the shortcut , go to the section labled "Shortcut" in the tab's section, then find the Target area.... it should look something like below (I used mine to show you)
D:\Games\Quake\glQrack.exe -game cool <- if you dont add -game cool , this method won't work. You must run Qrack from the shortcut on your desktop, that you modified the TARGET field to have -game cool.
Which method you employ to use the custom textures is purely preference as far as I know.
Other methods....
Extract the ZIP's to Quake\id1\textures\ -or- Quake\Qrack\textures\ , these methods do not require -game cool variable.
ps : fyi, this is the SECOND time I typed some instructions. First time I forgot to hit submit before closing browser .....YAY,10minutes of typing flushed down the toilet. HAHA, wish you the best of luck, and hope I help the situation and not make things worse on yaWant to get into playing Quake again? ok, the other guy said prettywater would work for Qrack no prob. What the hell. This is nuts lol. And rook didn't post that other stuff in my thread... yet. Where'd you find that?
And why does the readme for the quake reforged project suck so bad? It says NOTHING about renaming anything. It just says extract stuff somewhere and that's about it. Maybe I'm just a noob and frustrated.

-game (name)
executes the files in the (name) folder.
So in C:\Quake\ooppee-mod
to run it
-game ooppee-mod
Mindz directions are the answer. Can't make it any more clear. If there's no textures or progs folder in your Qrack folder -> right click -> New -> Folder and name it textures and repeat for progs
Then place the models that are in the pk3 in the progs folder and textures in the textures folder...

that's the thing, I don't see any pk3 files or whatever. The stuff in the reforged folder for qrack are all jpg. I'm just gonna try the shortcut thing and report back. Honestly, if I get through this I'm gonna strive to learn more and maybe write a beginner/noob tutorial for things of this nature. Laugh if you will but this is daunting for someone who's not quake savvy.
I mean, cmon, is it just me or does the read me for this stuff suck?
Thanks for help btw.

Ok, I've tried everything mentioned in this thread AND tried what the readme included with the skins advises, as well as tried what is mentioned at the reforged website's tech guide AND faq, all 3 of which are conflicting... and in some cases MASSIVELY conflicting.
The skin files I want to use are jpgs, NOT pk3's.
Here's what I think is happening: No matter what I do, GLQrack exe uses enemy skins that reside in the Quake/ld1/GLquake folder. Nothing I do stops this. Doesn't anyone else have a GLquake folder with vanilla skins in their ld1 directory?

HEH.
The ORIGINAL files you downloaded either came in a ARCHIVE or PK3.
Inside the ARCHIVE files you downloaded, contained as you mention, JPG's....
Look at this
I can't make it any easier than posting the folder structure like I just did..Want to get into playing Quake again? Click here for the Multiplayer-Startup kit! laissez bon temps rouler!
