Those are screenshot's of my dual-GPU solution flexing its muscle using DirectQ. I do not know of any high end Nvidia users who have attempted at beating those frames per second. Don't take Radeon market share being lesser as a bad thing, obviously they are doin something right.

I'm considering the HD6950 and trying the HD6970 Bios Flash mod btw, anyone familiar with this?
This is what I have. Reference designed 6950 2gb pcb with the bios mod to unlock the shaders to 6970. Then overclocked and overvolted it and did +20% powertune.

          It's about the speed of a stock GTX580 / HD 5970.

I made this video using it:

            One XFX 6850 here.

In DirectQ max FPS spike is 8000+ but it only happens for an fraction of a second.

I need a better image converter what do you guys use? My pictures turn all dark.

Well, I see in the pics that none of you are using rtworld on, and as far I know framerates above 60fps are indistinguishable.. This is, 60 fps is the top framerate the human eye can handle, so why trying to beat 4000fps?

If there's a card that can keep 60fps or more with all DP effects activated, that's the one Telomere should buy..

Thanks guys for the pics and vids, it all looks awesome an its whetting my appetite for getting started!

Well, I bit the bullet and bought a GeForce GTX 570, more than I intended to spend, but like I said thats what I always end up doing lol.

Ok, assuming thats going to be enough, next thing I need to know is exactly what texture packs, model replacements, lighting effects, water effects etc etc I'm going to need to get going, and where to get them. So far I have the 891meg version of the Rygel dp texture pack, and the .ogg soundtrack, but that's it.

Oh also, one last question. This demo that I have, it's from just a standard deathmatch, looking from one players point of view. I was wondering, since things have moved on a bit now is it possible to switch to the other players point of view interactively whilst playing back a demo, if so, how?

                Many thanks!

its geeks playing with their geeked out PC's. Nothing more should be said, but
if you haven't done so, try playing quake offline/online using 60FPS. then, try playing quake offline/online using 400FPS.

Besides that, why buy expensive computer hardware to accomodate your eyeballs. They should be working overtime!!!

I tried doing this exact same stuff just the other day, and I had problems pulling it off.I was just as disheartened as you.'

Demo recording could definately use some updating, its still pretty crude and unchanged.

If your using 60fps and you change it to 500fps you have to see a big difference (thats if your system is able of 500fps solid not just a spike).

Actually I can't see, I don't use to play with so high framerates, and I just posted what I read..

I think the overall point that's being made with the 60fps:
If it can run DP with all the HD models, effects and textures at a solid 60+ FPS that's the card you should go for as it'd run the lower end Quake setups extremely quick (in otherwords would easily be pulling 500+ fps)
