Ok, since installing my new card, I don't seem to have any starting or slowdown probs with dark places any more (whee!). However, upon starting up, it seems every bullet, rocket or anything fired is a large multi-coloured diamond. I'm guessing that this would indicate some sort of placeholder for something that's missing? How do I get rid of these?

All I have is the standard id1 folder, and the Rygels texture pack. I'm downloading from the Quake Revitalization Project, as suggested by OoPpEe, but theres loads of stuff on there so i'm not sure what to get, so I just grabbed the latest. So far I have...

Well, I removed the Rygel textures an just went with the texture packs above. What can I say. WOW

It's visually stunning! An the coloured diamonds prob is gone, no idea what was going on there.

Gonna have some fun tweaking it a bit more now to make it look its best.

the diamonds are missing textures/models. usually r_restart or vid_restart fixes the problem.

Rygel's Ultra pack had corrupted content which resulted in those bugs.

A 6950 hacked to 6970 would have been wiser
Especially if you want to use it with DarkPlaces.
DP benefits from this ATI card better than its Nvidia counterpart GTX570.

Almost all effects (weather, shader driven things (like pretty water), ...) have much less fps drop with ATI.

But the GTX570 is of course a good GPU too.
