Are you trying to connect to a netquake server with a qw engine or the other way?

That's nothing... I have had a Quake folder of 4 GB, and other Quake folks have had much larger (I wouldn't want to know the size of Cheapy's quake dir)

Sounds like you need a firewall for starters. With Sygate being no more, I'm not sure what is a good free one to recommend.

Btw, it could be your Quake ... I mean, it is at least POSSIBLE. What Quake client are you using?
