Sure, I can add frikbots to qball, if anything they'd just run around shooting you normally, and if the ball touches it then they have the ball. I might have to create a dynamic waypoint for the ball for frik's based on distance and priority..

if there are enoguh people interested in playing the mod with full team server bots this would make the game always 8 on 8
i wouldt mind adding it.

the game is a blast but only with >~4 on 4

hmm, since I made my Qball-clone from scratch I doubt they can get mad at my blatent reproduction of the mod. Though, (I havent heard anything yet from mplayer), would be cool to go back thru the mod and clean it up a bit.

One thing most (if not all) dont know about my version is that I have added assault mode. Which turns Qball into a rugby-like match. on E1M2 for example
the START of the map is the RED team's base team the END is the BLUE team's base. Both "goals" are signified by PENT(red team) and QUAD (blue team). The Qball spawns in the middle of the map at the drawbridge. Teams must get the ball and take it to the other team's base and touch their goalpost to score. Of course qball player runs slower due to the weight of the ball, but also the qballer gets points per second for possession. All other DM rules apply. So, this ASSAULT mode is a great hybrid of CTF and DM. TRUELY alot of fun! :d

I was just recalling Qball while on the CTF subtopic section.

Qball was one of my favorite Quake 1 mods, although I hardly remember exactly what it was like. Does anyone have some dem recordings or videos to post on youtube or something like that? It would be fun to see that game being played again.

I remember it being a lot of fun to play. I think the mod would have been a lot more popular if it wasn't mplayer exculsive.

I loved q-ball.. I was on of the top q-ball players on mplayer. My guild MMA won the Mplayer tournament 2 times in a row. I miss mplayer in sometimes.

Do you still have any old demo videos? Something you can post on youtube?

I remember at the time of Mplayer, there were a few mplayer like systems coming out, it was new for the time, and thus many people were wary of some medium system you had to go through in order to play a game. I think this turned a lot of people off from mplayer and thus from Qball as well.

Today, Steam is probably the mplayer of the day.

I used to play Q-Ball with Suckbot, Ghastly, and one other guy. Our Q-Ball clan, Unholy Newbies was small, but we did very well.
