    And one time there was a bot on the server and you have to record a demo, so I actually had to leave the server and come back with ProQuake just to record a bot and send it off so he'd get banned.
    use qrack and set cl_autodemo 1
    this will record every game u play and name with in a "map-date-time" stamp
    make a screenshot when something noticable is going on.. this will have the same date and timestamp so later its easy to find the according demo

    (offcourse u knew all of this.. just thought i'd grap the opportunity to bring this feature under attention)

        Besides, ENTER is such a bigger key that you can't miss pressing Do you know what will happen if I miss T and hit R? or Y? I'll show you!

          My RQuake keys are similarly crowded...

          F = tell
          E = use
          R = delete
          T = talk
          Y = show-xp

          The numbe of times recently that I've hit E instead of R is piss-annoying...
          16:03:04 <gb> when I put in a sng, I think I might need nails
          16:03:30 <gb> the fact that only playtesting tells me that probably means that my mind is a sieve

              Agreed! Or several keys apart.

                  I have my enter key as rune-use, \ key as rune-delete, and thats it. I use the arrow keys as movement BTW, and ctrl key as jump. My hook key is delete (not on the num pad), GL is numpad ins, RL is rshift, Shaft mouse2, attack mouse1, mousewheelup change weaps. mousewheeldown is boomstick.

                      You should try it. It's not as hard as you think. You just have to move your fingers around a bit more.

                        I used to absolutely promote proquake 102%
                        back in 2000 every one and their dog had a quake variant engine.
                        But I always felt JPG did a great job with proquake and ignored all eyecandy
                        for performance. After a while I started tweaking my own PQ variant. Interpolation, transparent scoreboard, 24bit textures, etc.
                        But in all, Proquake has a nice set of NQ standards that you just cant beat.
                        If I made a stripped down version of Qrack, it would pale in comparison to default 3.50 ProQuake!

                        If you DONT NEED 24bit GFX, or your playing on the Office computer, then ProQuake is the BEST choice. If you bored and have a boss rig, Qrack is the 1st and JQ is the second choice. Or DARKPLACES or NEXIUS!~!

                          well said Rook! I used to play quake on my laptop during boring meetings.

                          As for key configs which have nothing to do with this thread: I use
                          Q = remove/SNGattack
                          E = tell/GLattack
                          mouse3 = use/SGattack
                          mouse2 = hook/secondaryWEAPONattack
                          mouse1 = +fire

                          My commands change depending if I've activated DualWeapons or not. I use WASD to control my movement.

                          I use ENTER to chat. I also use "\" to toggle ENTER between CHAT and TEAM_CHAT mode <insert stupid spooker complaining about toggling joke here> SHUT UP SPOOKER I DON'T CHEAT!

                            Hello

                            1st post at quakeone hehe!!

                            Well, to me, PQ is best for offering the cheat-free dll... like Baker said (final little note)!

                            Ciao!!

                            [I am intentionally ignoring the cheat-free support issue, I think everyone knows that is valuable, but most of us do not frequently play CA+ and those of who do may switch from some other engine to ProQuake specifically for that purpose.][/QUOTE]

                            For those of us that use ProQuake all or part of the time, please participate in this thread to help explain the importance and strengths of ProQuake.

                            ProQuake has the following features:

                            I'll go first.

                            1) ProQuake is not a headache to use, ever! You start it, it works and you play. It needs almost no configuration. Only JoeQuake 0.15 comes close (MP Optimized/Mouselook in menu), no other engine presently comes remotely close, IMHO.

                            2) Ping in scoreboard. Absolutely essential.

                            3) Record demos in-game. I record demos with some frequency. Sometimes I record a demo of play, other times I record a demo of someone else's play and other times I want to record a cheater. Most players do not even know that the original WinQuake/GLQuake cannot record demos while on a server and I bet would be surprised that some engines do not have this feature.

                            4) IPLOG. Ask any player that has played Quake for a while and you will find out exactly how essential this feature is. You can determine who the foul mouthed guy is who just showed up or check who that extraordinary player is.

                            5) Game Clock. Most players are so used to this, they wouldn't even know that WinQuake/GLQuake don't have this feature. In WinQuake/GLQuake, you have to press TAB to see the remaining time left.

                            6) Loc File Support. The ability to make a bind like BIND X "say_team I am at %L with %H health and %A armor." and you communicate your position and status to other players on your team. Vital for CA or CTF.

                            To part time and full-time ProQuake users, which of these features do you value and why? How important is it that engine has these features for multiplayer? What features can you just not live without?

                            [I am intentionally ignoring the cheat-free support issue, I think everyone knows that is valuable, but most of us do not frequently play CA+ and those of who do may switch from some other engine to ProQuake specifically for that purpose.]

                                I should have done this if I knew... Thanks to Yellow #5 that told me "if you like it (www.quakeone.com)... register"!

                                I know Q1 is pretty big (when you think about it... it's endless), but quakeone.com is someting I was looking for.

                                And... I know so many people here... I've probably met 500-600 Q1 players over the years... like you Canadian Snipper, I remember all the matches and when i red your profile, i know why (you like e1m7 and supernail gun just like me hehe).
