Just like the title says. When I try to run Qrack I get a "libcurl.dll is linked to missing export wldap32.dll". It seems strange since Joequake runs great. Thanks in advance.

Qrack on Windows 98?

Seriously.
I have no idea if there's a fix. I Google'd the problem and found one other match with that error, this person was running Windows 98. Odd.
Qrack wasn't made to run under Windows 98. If you do get it running, I doubt it will be playable (with any settings that you'd want to use Qrack with anyway, otherwise I wouldn't see the point of using it) with the hardware you're on.

And just when I thought Wolv couldn't provide quality Quake help, he proves me wrong.Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.
So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

On a more serious note, R00k has code in Qrack that is clearly Windows XP and later specific. It might work on Windows 2000.
/I hear ya on the 1990s games. Some of them are great, some will not run on XP or later. Let alone Vista and beyondQuakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

Anyways, I thought it might be a known fact that maybe Qrack was for windows xp and up or something along those lines. As far a hardware, the only "outdated" piece thats in the tower is a voodoo 5500 for the glide. Other than that everything is "upgraded" as much as it can be. The voodoo will pull 91 fps on darkplaces at 1024x768(no realtime lighting of course), which doesnt seem that bad for a 10 year old card. With realtime lighting on it drops to about 2 fps literally.
Joequake runs excellent and looks great imo. I just wanted to see what Qrack looked like since it was "based" on joequake iirc.Last edited by sb306; 06-02-2010, 10:05 PM.If you see 427 playing Quake thats me.

I actually got another computer from a friend at work from about 2006 with xp. I think I might use that and install a newer style video card and use that also. But fuck man, Darkplaces with real time lighting slows down even our brand new laptop to a crawl. Although it doesnt have the fastest video card in the world. If you see 427 playing Quake thats me.

The Windows API functions have changed since then and it is difficult and cumbersome to look through them to identify what ones were supported back in the older operating systems.
The hardware is likely fine. R00k has funky memory stuff in Qrack though that I know doesn't work with Windows 98. Plus I'm not sure if the .dll files that Qrack uses work on Win 98 or what?Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. I know this sucks, but I basically code Qrack for the machine i have.
I DO have a windows 98 machine right next to me, but i'm not going backwards to play Quake. But, I used to play PROQuake on Win98 at 100fps, so dont let anyone cuss u out for win98. IMHO it was the last stable low profile OS m$ released, most likely the backbone to the original XBOx.
Libcurl is the interface to the internet file transfer scheme. I can (been saying this for years), make a LITE version of qrack...
Not to be insincere, to anyone, Qrack is just what i want out of Quake haphazardly, and i just GPL this. I am not a professional programmer, I'm just an old Quake player, that also learned QuakeC and C whilst in this fishbowl.Last edited by R00k; 06-02-2010, 11:05 PM.

Edit: I just checked out vista and it takes between 15 and 20gb of hard drive space.hahaha. Fuck that man. Thats bullshit. Holy shit man. Its hard to believe that its 30x better than win 98 considering 98 takes up 500mb.

Libcurl is the interface to the internet file transfer scheme. I can (been saying this for years), make a LITE version of qrack...I actually had a virus on the win 98 hard drive about a year back, from when I used it to go the on internet. After I cleaned it up I never went back on the net with it. It took a couple months to figure out the problem because the game was so old(leadfoot, cool game)there was next to no information left on the internet about it. It ended up being a virus in the winsock32.dll file. It gave me a random "muliple etrace" error when finishing a race. Man that was fuking irritating.
So anyways, I quit going on the internet to keep the computer squeaky clean.
Ill just stick with Joequake. Ill try Qrack on the laptopThanks for the reply though.

If you are singleplayer prone, try DarkPlaces, ProQuake, or FitzQuake. My handywork works on my machine 100% of the time, other than that Google can finish this sentence.
