  • CAX Update/Ideas?

    Don't know if you're working on any or if you want to. But I think it would be a nice idea to have round eff and stats. I always want to know what my eff and stats were just for that round. Maybe you can add this in when you do the change up of the green team?

    How about if you are an observer or dead, the scoreboard & eff shows up on the screen when you press tab? and it can be toggled on/off by pressing tab.

      How about somewhere in the eff table (next to gl?) we put in how many grenades that person has fired? It might help diminish spam a little? Some spammers are proud that they spam. But some people may try to lower how many they use and get a higher eff. It could go a lot of ways. But I think its a decent idea.

        Was just playing in practice mode and thought, maybe you can have a eff/stats reset command that resets the tables.(In Pmode of course)

          Impulse 23 tells you quickstats, which includes damage given/taken for the round.

            For just that round!? What else didn't I know?


            I think it would be a good idea for weapon efficiency just for that round too.

              Thats what [Eff: __ ] means, son.

              For the record, I have long lobbied for it to show the much more relevant LGeff and Dhits, rather than overall eff.

              There could be a separate quick stats impulse for that?

                Yea, im tired of lobbying for shit.

                It seems every time we propose ideas here, lobby for them, and have positive feed back these ideas go to waste.

                Unfortunately no one is actually taking the time to implement these.

                Obviously there are a few of us here, and I guess we shouldn't be the government for the population of quake.. but I think for the good of quake we've come up with some great ideas to help retain players, and bring new players in..

                if nothing is going to be done, this is just another wasted thread.

                    Recorded?

                    We've had threads lying around for almost 3 months now with a lot of great suggestions regarding spam, damage, and interface.

                    I have not seen any of these ideas implemented.

                    I'm well aware Phenom and Bam tested out a new CAX mod but I haven't heard since.. I thought it would dawn a new light upon CAX .. with enforced map changes, longer delay on GLs, less GL ammo.. and still nothing

                    what's to save this game?

                        ha.. yea.. that's never a good thing, i do like the LG Eff + Direct Hits idea better than the general "efficiency" because shotgun, GL and nails are all spray weapons..


                        Regardless, someone with some clue about coding *COUGH COUGH* needs to step up and take this mod to the next level..
                        there are still some glaring holes, and thats why shmack is able to retain players throughout the day where as speaknow suffers highs and lows (mostly lows)

                        Shmack may be more newbie friendly then your speaknow crew, but atleast they are able to bring new and old players in on a consistent and daily basis.. with the variety of maps/runes it seems to have the best fan base right now..

                        I want to see both CTF and CA get back to that level, mainly CA cause people still play it.

                            80% of the ideas are already available, 15% ideas are added routinely, 4% ideas get put on the gamplay shelf, and 1% just suck...

                            16 people play this game on an average. Revamping the mod for 2% player "projective gain" is a sacrafice. Mod changes make there way to me via email/pm not forum posts next you will want overhead maps...

                              For the rest regarding GL spam and such, I'm not rushing Bam about this since he is working on some other stuff

                              Its best to test in small doses then beta to the public, it tends to turn people away from prototype ideas. I've tried to get you in on a few of the changes but you're never around!

                              Anyway if you want a CAX server with map rotation check bomber.quakeone.com out. Also Bamhad some spam reduction features on Bomber but it's still being revamed along with some other neat stuff

                              I know just enough coding to be dangerous or else I would have worked on these features myself!

                              Like Baker said, 2008 is looking like a good year for Quake! and we're not even out of the first month

                              I can understand you wanting to see all these cool things everyone is talking about, I'm seeing it as a decent sized non-profit group working towards Quake's future and dealing with this delicate process takes precision and patience.

                              But ya, you're smart wheres all these damn cool features already!
