heh looks a bit funneh cuz the body is just a regular body,
but i can totally imagine cthulhu in all his glory with the wings and such when looking at front-view of your model
    .
are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?
    > then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <
everything that is out there for quake and both mission-packs, compiled into one massive thread

@Talisa - pretty much all this cloneman stuff is just a fun "joke". The silliness of it will be more apparent as I start making cloneman versions of other popular characters. The idea is to never really add any detail to cloneman, just little blobs of mesh here and there that allude to what it is supposed to be.

My quakeman images are an excellent example. It's kinda like virtual lego for grown ups. However Cthulhuman was 100% just some 2 second bullshit. Cthulhus head is not even welded to the body and clonemans real head is just hidden inside of Cthulhu's head. You can thank CNTRL+J for Cthulhuman.

just got a crazy idea after reading a comment in another thread.....

why dont you turn cloneman into a zombie?

just make him more skinny and add details like open wounds and mebbe a piece of side of torso missing and ribs sticking out and such
and make a texture for him to look he's a half-rotten away dead person ^^

it would be great to have a more hi-poly zombie

What if I just finish clonemans hands, release him and ?you? can make him a zombie. That's kinda the whole point of cloneman... to give people a decent base mesh to work from so they don't have to start from a cube for character modelling. Well, that's the whole point of cloneman from a release aspect. The whole point of cloneman for me is to make a bunch of practically detail-less characters that are still obvious as to what they are supposed to be, like my ranger. Imagine how simple Cloneman to Spiderman would be. I just need to color it. Cloneman to Batman - color it, add a cape, belt and boot/mask/glove triangle thingies.

i unno..... as you know i dun have much experience at all with organic items like characters and such. so id prolly just make a mess of it, lol

and even less with texturing... id really need someone to texture it for me,
something like a zombie would be way to fancy for me to be able to make textures for

and with rigging and animating i have even less experience, none at all

i dun think im good enough yet to do something like a zombie, even if id have your cloneman base-model to start with
            .

              I'm sure cloneman wont mind

Me too, but if I wanted to get it done, this wouldn't stop me

and with rigging and animating i have even less experience, none at all
Well you aren't going to change that by doing nothing

i dun think im good enough yet to do something like a zombie, even if id have your cloneman base-model to start with
This wont change by doing nothing either

I know I sound like an asshole a little bit, but I hear this bullshit all the time in one form or another. I didn't get good at things by complaining that I'm not good at them. I make up my mind to do something and then I just do it. I don't have to be confident that I could (ex) make the coolest Cthulhu head ever. I'm confident that WHATEVER I want to do, I can do it... that's how you make shit happen and become better at things.

Your post is like the longest way in the world to say "I have no confidence". Really though, this is silly. This isn't the last egg in the world and you HAVE to make it perfectly sunny side up. This is customizable data that can always be reloaded in it's default form. There is no way to "mess up".

Anyway, I'm not trying to be a jerk to you. I'm just sick of people claiming that they wish something would happen but wont even attempt to make it happen on their own. I'm surrounded by wishes and excuses based in a lack of confidence, instead of attempts and results based in a desire to at least try and it's driving me nuts.

If I hear one more person say "I can't" without even trying...Imma fuckin scream. You know what I "can't" do... get pregnant, that's it, and until I epically fail at something that I am attempting, that will remain my belief.

Over a month ago I knew next to nothing about securing data on a website. really, my knowledge ended and began with little more than some factoids. Now, sitephyre has a seriously robust hashing system that I wrote from the ground up based on a few days of research. I'm not saying it's the holy grail of security but I know where I am now is light years beyond where I was just a month or so ago. I could have said "I'm not good at security and I don't really understand all of what I am reading, there just wont be any security", but I didn't do that. I put my nose to the grindstone and spent many many hours staring into space thinking about all I had read, until I was able to create a system that, if nothing else, shows a LOT of promise.

Let me tell you, it was nerve wracking. There were plenty of times where I started to lose confidence and second guess whether I would ever get it to work at all. I tightened my belt, grit my teeth and told the monitor filled with code "You are gonna do what the fuck I say"...and it did.

The moral: Fuxk a "can't", the only issue is how hard are you willing to try to "CAN".

              ----

One more example: Last week I took apart the entire front suspension of that van I just bought. Did I know what I was doing? NO! But as we speak I have new everything in the front end and the van drives like a brand new vehicle. I even gave myself a front end alignment with no tools or computers to gauge the caster/camber/alignment of the wheels. The first alignment went poorly, the steering was pulling left bad. I pulled it back in my shop and messed with it some more. Currently the vehicle drives straighter than an arrow. I know I got it all spot on because aside from the vehicle driving straight, it does not feel like the tires are driving toward/away from each other. I did put a bit of a toe in on the tires and I did it completely by eye based on the toe in on a similar van. Put a tape measure on my tires and you would be calling the cops because I must have done something illegal to get it so good with nothing but eyes.

RE: Did I know what I was doing? NO!

              ---

I'm not trying to brag. I'm trying to make you understand that there is nothing that you cannot do if you just use your brain and pay attention. Sometimes a little muscle helps too. Getting those lower ball joints out was incredibly hard. Which reminds me. I couldn't get the calipers off so I just undid the brake line (cause it was really what was in my way. When I was done my brakes needed to be bled. I didn't have a helper so I invented a whole new way to do it. I can bleed the line for an entire braking system by myself in about 5 minutes.

All it takes is 4 water bottles and 4 very short pieces of aquarium tubing. Connect the tubing to the bottom of 2 bottles and the side of the other two. attach those bottles to your bleeder valves (side mounted bottles go in the back) and crack them all a half turn. Fill all bottles half way with brake fluid. Get in your vehicle pump the brakes 5 or 10 times, check the bottles. Continue this til the fluid levels in the bottles don't change. Go tighten up the bleeder valves and remove the bottles.

When you press the brake air escapes into the bottle and when you release the brake fluid gets sucked into the caliper to replace the air that just escaped. This is why you want the shortest aquarium tubes possible. I'm no mechanic. I could have gave up a hundred times and spent thousands of dollars for it to be done for me, but "I can't" is not even an option in my world, especially when it come to something like finishing work on my vehicle.

Edit: if you try my method at home, make sure you pump the brakes 15 or more times before you crack the bleeder valves. You may even need to start your vehicle so the brake pedal doesn't "rock up" while you are pumping. You could also do this with just one bottle, but if you do it this way you will have to do a caliper at a time. Start at the passenger rear and work clockwise to the passenger front. You may have other issues though cause rear calipers have a horizontal bleeder valve and front calipers have a vertical one. YOu really want that aquarium tubing to be almost non-existent. Maybe if you mounted the tubing in the corner of the bottle it could be multi-purposed with better results.
