OK so what's the deal on these updates? Are they real updates that are being worked on or where they just a not for release mod? This inquiring mind wants to know!
sorry. this is only my version and propose to Reforged Team to change head look and some effects. i can post it but only if Reforged Team accept it and put it on page.
OMG it has been a huge amount of time from the last post
I'll start fast replying to a few points I was not able to answer in the past, even if I wanted.
1) the grunt version uploaded was the wrong one that ugly face was already replaced with another, but didnt noticed that fast enough, infact also screens on site are wrong. Unfortunately I have not stopped in time the rukus^ my fault!
2) vore is male? hehe, I think she/he misses something down there...
3) grunt done, hellknight remade and ready, knight remade and ready, dog remade and ready, ogre finalized an ready, fiend remade and ready, shambler remade and ready, zombie finalized. All skins finished and ready to be published/released. Chthon? Surprise^^
4) three enforcer types from Quoth are already done by an eternity, donno why are not online
5) heheh Ranger, tha's the challenge!! making these ugly models appear at least decent^^
6) shambler remained unseen for so much time because I tried all the possible to make a fur shader works, unfortunately darkplaces doesnt support it, so i made 2 different skins for it, I hope u like them.
web connection and time issue aside, this part of the project is turning to its first milestone, mainly thanks to your support and constance in making clear how much quake is still appreciated^ You deserve to be mentioned one by one, but it's impossible

Guys, how do you think about collecting best available already made models and creating new coolest skins for them? For example, there's available Shambler model, take a look: Quake Expo 2005 I have darkened his skin, by a very rough way, because he was waaaaaay too bright in darkplaces. In the end he looks like this.
If he had the skin with the quality similar to yours - it would be awesome. I believe, that with your talant we could create the coolest Quake experience ever and ever.

Collecting the best skins is a good idea, but there are just a handful of good ones - besides the REFORGED-project. Let�s wait, what Alfader & Nergal will release (soon???)! I am sure, we only need REFORGED!

Awesome, I've been thinking the same thing about that Shambler model!
Still- lets see how this new skin goes- as the existing monsters go you don't really notice the low-poly so much.

I didn't mean collecting SKINS. I meant MODELS. And then creating skins for them. The main problem with Quake remodelling is that no one really wants to do it. Models are the weakest part of the current Quake. So, if there are already existing good ones (and I see that this Shambler is cool), maybe Alfader & Nergal will pay their attention to them after thay release the skins for original ones?
A know what you mean and I agree.
But I was saying with the bumpmapping and high level textures it actually does get harder to notice the low-poly (though the humanoids will be harder as we know what a proper humanoid looks like).
But the Scrag looks fine, the Vore is kind of chitonous so hard edges won't hurt him- and the Spawn and fish just aren't quite enough to fuss about polys).
The sad part is I don't think there ARE high-poly versions of any other monster but the shambler.

I'm glad we've solved our problems just in time to reply to this request^^
As you might have guessed^, we were unable to upload the remaining skins, even if ready by a good month.
In any case, if you let me leave the annoying details out, I'll move fast to show our last skins for Quake.
Everything will be released soon, I hope before the night, followed by the already announced full pack in multiple definitions (low-normal-high def and so on).
