Hello ezzetabi,

When I compare both clips, I cannot see a different.
E3M3 is even a little bit darker.

I use fraps to record clips and use virtualdub with xvid encoding to convert/shrink it, before upload it to youtube. Unfortunately fraps lets you only record 30 seconds in freeware mode. So I have to join these parts in virtualdub.
I think the secret regarding brightness is in virtualdub, which makes it brighter.
I dont change any Quake settings while recording.

I have heard that many people use MSI Afterburner to record their clips. Then of course shrink it with virtualdub + encoder (xvid or H.264). Maybe this information is somehow helpful...

I use glc for recording and mencoder to encode. I will try to increase the brightness and leave contrast untouched next time.

I have had small opportunities to play your mod and have enjoyed what I did get to do. I'm sorry that I do not have the luxury of time right at this moment to give you better feedback, but all work is appreciated and I'm glad to see your efforts. Please do not get discouraged. I feel any creator/creation is a value and those creators, unfortunately, have to accept that there are often few who may truly appreciate and enjoy their work and will give feedback. Take all feedback good or not and use it.

Can anyone help me? I would need a idiot proof tutorial how to reskin an existing .mdl file.
I would like to do some very easy changes...
If possible, no youtube clips.

ok, then...

- Open your model of choice in QME.
- click on "file" then "export skin"
- save your skin to your harddisc
- open your skin with your picture editor of choice
- you will see a flat (2D) version of your model. That is the unwrapped skin.
- the black areas are not used
- the colored areas is your model

Now change the colors, change the details or anything you want.
Save it and you have the external replacement file.

If your engine of choice supports external replacement files, put it into the correct subfolder and the engine will use this instead.

If your engine of choice does NOT support external replacement files, you will have to import your edited skin file back into QME and save the complete edited model with the new skin.
Replace this model with the original one inside your ID1 .pak file.
(please make a backup if you do this before)
