  • High Poly monster model for Quake - Vote

    Dear all,

    Psionic, the author of the spider model, that was recently implemented into Quake, is very happy about the fact that his model has been used for a "real" game.
    Psionic is a proffesional game artist and is willing to do another model that can be used for Quake.
    I stay in contact with him and see that this is a one-time-chance for us to get another beautiful monster model for Quake.

    Several high talented Quake lovers have made awesome monster models in the recent past:
    Ruohis, Obi Wan, Andrew Joll, Tabun, Moo/OoPpEe, FredrikH, Tea Monster

    I think the only monsters, which do not have a High Poly replacement are:
    - Knight
    - Hellknight
    - (dog)
    - (zombie)


    I put dog and zombie in brackets, as there are replacement models from 'Dawn of Darkness' available for Quake.

    I ask you to vote for the High Poly monster that you would like to be made by Psionic.

    How about medium-poly player model Maybe not a replacement, but just another choice. Kinda like how Quake3 has multiple player models.

    I'd vote for Zombie since, zombies are still popular.

        oh oh, and another pic i found, which shows multiple versions of pretty much the same knight (except for some small differences, but im sure its supposed to be the same knight seeing the design is nearly identical) in diff colors, which would be perfect for multi-skins

          I think we need a new playermodel the most.
          Every deathmatch game will benefit.
          Many mods will benefit too, if we get the source model, rigged and with attatchment points.

                Rottweiler, oh didnt see that the choice had to be a Quake1 Monster.

                O yea, and Player Models are where. Do they work with colors and teams? DirectQ support?

                Are we thinking thin and narrow or wide and backwards compatible to all engines?

                    My point about monster models are that they will be seen less. How many times will someone play singleplayer? A player model will be used daily with all mods. Not one level in a remote. Chance someone wants to play thru single player Again

                      I know. I tried my best to convey that same message / had to delete my reply because I didn't do it will as much grace as you just did.


                      2012 - NetQuake - Content - Needed. SinglePlayer gets all the love and its just a plain SHAME.

                        With all due respect guys, you both seem to labor under the idea that all play multiplayer (which I and many others do not, me because I stink) rather than singleplayer. I personally play through singleplayer many times with different mods as they come out and through many older ones as well. There already are several high poly player models so I would rather see a monster which has no high-poly model yet. Have you guys tried the ones that splitter mentions...they are really excellent by talented artists and I like using 3rd person view with them on occaison.

                          You stink at multiplayer cause u dont try to learn the game.

                          let me illustrate this, singleplayer Quake = 24 hour game play tops then done. If a n artist wants his work to be seen and used make a player model.
                          If u wanna walk around in dingle player and hear the zombie moanin while u stroke it then thats your pref, but honestly after 15+ years every1 has played ID software lameplay. its linear ass monkey finger poking.

                          Carmack killed it when he fired Romero. EVERY game id software has made is walk shoot kil lwalk shoot kill button, walk shoot kill button walk....

                          John doesnt care about gameplay its selling engine tech,... meh never mind.

                          Unreal engine is 1000% better anyways.. maybe its time to shift camps.

                            i play single player all the time myself, and i love to play coop on the rquake-coop server, and i enjoy playing in coop with friends

                            and i know more players who prefer SP & coop over DM, CTF or any other versus mode any day

                              Hi Rook,
                              No, I stink because I don't WANT to learn. I could, I just prefer the single or co-op as splitter mentions. We all have our preferences..should be no worries between either camp. I like Unreal and many other games too so don't "jump-ship" or "shift-camps" you are a valued member here as are the others. Enjoy the game in your way and I'll enjoy it in mine..cool?
