Quake's connection to Quake 2 and Quake 4?

Sorry if this has gone off topic, it started when talisa gave me an example about comparing about doom 1 & 2 ro doom 3 when she was telling me about how we should not see Quake has an connection to Quake 2 & 4. Quake is completely separate from 2 and 4.
I understand what you mean and I respect that; I understand opinions does not mean truth, it's just belief. It's just that I can't believe they changed the doom story, but at least I like how they included the 1st person scene and the pinkie demon from doom 3. Still, I wish they kept the doom story.
Anyways to bring the topic back, If you have not read my first post then here's to explain: I imagined quake to have a connection to 2 and 4, but it's just for fun. Thought I could share my imagination of it. However I'm not saying it DOES have a connection, it's just imagination due by the similar elements between them.

people just keep comparing them to much to quake1 and saying how they are not like quake1 and have nothing to do with quake1.
which is true, they have absolutely zero to do with quake1
people should learn to look at them as different games, as they are both brilliant games in their own right.
same thing as with people comparing doom3 to much to doom1+2.
that game was never meant to be like doom1/2, but people keep stomping on it cuz they keep comparing it to doom1/2,
while people should look at the game itself and stop comparing it to doom1/2, its a really great game on itself
The colors are the same, the feel is almost exact.
The two biggest differences: Monsters - Occult Symbols.
The two minor differences: No story tie-in, slightly different movement feel.
These differences are enough to spoil it for some people - but honestly...? Launch the lvls/monsters using a Q2 engine - You're there. Semantics.

Quake is completely separate from 2 and 4.
Once he left the company, Quake went a different direction.

romero was also a talented programmer. But he was more interested in combing his hair and so carmack had an upper hand in the venture...
u cant sell lovcrap monsters to the general pub, but mutant cyborgs! sure ever1 knows what a robot is, a chtuhu? vore? wtf
meh no one cares about voodoo mythology its too touchy feely for guys that just wanna fuckn shoot sometihng.
all guys know what a drill is. a robot sure. once that machine become a threat use another machine - a gun. bingo. u have a connection.
make a game about shooting silly monsters in a dark place? wow go wet ur bed pony boy.
quake1 was about the tech in the engine at the time.
the story was weak and simply became word of mouth genre. :/Last edited by R00k; 05-20-2013, 09:23 PM.

I think if there were a true sequel to Quake 1 Romero should be a part of it somewhere (highly doubtful).
But that would be awesome if Romero registered here and was like "Yeah so... I decided to help push the Q1 resurrection, here's some shit I've been working on"
Then Romero/Baker/Seven/R00k/LordHavoc and the rest of the talented skills here make me a true F'N sequel!
and I don't want no Strogg bullshit!

Of course that explains a lot but if you have not read my first post in this thread, the connection was based on my immagination. I have the intendency to theorize things, but it was before I discovered about the true case about Quake's legacy.
We can imagine it if we want, but we must not forget that there is NO connections.
This thread was not based on an argument, it was just something I thought I would share. I have no idea that there were already similar threads about this.

& I can tell you an easy connection between Q1-Q2. ID Software. Like minds working on extremely similar projects. Who cares if there's no story-tie in? It made money, it exists.
Interpretation, Different, The Same? You've chosen a topic that can never be defined, it's ambiguous to begin with.
