dude was on the ground, yet the 'collar' was still too tight...

let's get mad about that instead of some 6'5" 275lb cigar thief, that attacked a cop ran away then ran back...duh

    @r00k

Fair enough. I always thought this case should have gotten more attention for sure. There was certainly less ambiguity in this case seeing how we have video of the incident. It seems that all sides of the political spectrum have issue with this case. And I think they should. It certainly better warrants an outcry of the public. But, I don't think this case is a racial case. Nor did I think the other case with Officer Wilson was a racial case. Meaning Michael Browns death wasn't attributed to any racism on the officers part. And I think the same applies to this case. Nothing racial about this and it is sad this is the focus again by many in the media. This could have happen to anyone with the same medical conditions as this man.

But, this case is certainly much more clear and the video is extremely troubling to me. But, I also respect the difficult job the grand jury has and because they will not (at least currently) release the evidence provided to the grand jury as they did in the Ferguson case we will not know for sure what evidence that was presented that tip the scale. But, just going off the video evidence alone, which is all we can currently do, it certainly seems hard to justify. But, certainly no malicious intent on the officers part. Negligence is certainly likely and possibly wreckless manslaughter. It is truly a tragedy considering the 'crime' (and I am not even sure he was committing one at the time) was a misdemeanor crime at best. So this is truly a sad outcome to a situation. I will say this, the officer in charge that day was there (she is a black woman by the way) and did not stop the officer even though she clearly heard his cries that he could not breath. Now to also be fair, the simple fact that he could say that at all calls that into question from the officers point of view. But, what the officers did not know was that he was asthmatic. The coroner ruled the death as a homicide which doesn't mean murdered just means that his death was directly attributed to the actions of the officer.

ya im not all privy about the decision of the grand jury,

im still trying to rationalize the fact that the guy is on his back holding his hands out OPEN until he passes out! and still this cop has to ..

NO. THIS ISNT A BLACK VS WHITE THING NOR A COP VS CIVIALIAN protocol.

its just an accident that happened that shouldnt happen, and we can learn

if, we can understand this in a calm manner.

      there are only 5 people
and two of them are wrong.

I understand where you're coming from. Eventually (hopefully) those same youths who see what is wrong with the world today will remember when/if it comes their turn to carry the torch.

Eventually, old-ideas will succumb to new-thinking...

I have high hopes for that to happen.

Im not particularly a cop LOVER per say, but when you think of the risks they take day to day, you have to come to grips that this job leaves you mentally depleted weather or not the cop has a say or not. Lets say these guys have to go in to a run down area like this, which was a minority business district and the whole place is a crack den or methhead hangout. If you go into that area without a respirator or other protection , yo umore or less inhale the shit they are cooking in the area through the air in that area. Will that effect you? You bet your ass it will. It can make you angry pretty fast for no reason, and you dont even have a clue why what where or when. So lets say you hit alot of these kinds of lowlife areas in a few weeks as a cop, will you be on a short fuse? You bet your ass and theres not a hella lot you can do about it. As I say I am not particularly a cop lover, I have had alot of bad experiences with them myself, but Im starting to understand what they are really facing out there on a day to day basis, and they are NOT prepared to handle the possible side effects of being exposed to lethal / hazmat toxic stuff that these stupid asshole drug dealers and lowlifes in areas like that are doing. Plenty of DEA oficers have had their lives cut short in the "war on drugs" doing just that. They retire and find out the dealer they put away also had a meth lab next door and they were exposed to it in the bust, and wind up all of a sudden with fatal lung conditions. Beleive me these guys will pay the price, and I think thats part of the reason why police dont get prosecuted these days, they are taking the most risks out of any of us when it comes down to it.

Sure, the policemen just inhaled too much of the crack their (overwhelmingly black) victims smoke.

Those poor policemen. They're the real victims, right.

I dont expect you to understand, you dont live in the USA and have no clue what its like to live in New York where this happened. There is no other place like NY in the World, and I was born there, so I believe I know something about the constant stress you have to deal with living in NY, and I can imagine being a cop there just compounds the already high level of stress people have to another level that is , like I said, dangerous to a persons mental health to say the least. But, hey if you doubt me, pack up and move there and try living for a few months if you can...its not an easy place to live, but dont take my word for it.

Im not saying the police are perfect , far from it. I can go on here with paragraphs of experiences I have had with them and for the grace of god, this could have happened to me. What I have learned from it all, is not to blame other people or terrorize entire communities because an injustice was done to me. I mentioned in another post how I have had nothing but bad experiences with black people and nearly all of them where in New York, and
when they are confronted or accused of any wrong doing, they do exhibit an inferiority complex right away and try to yell their way out , or like what happened to me, they terrorize you by putting dangerous chemicals where you work so that you can develop health issues later on, and "remember" who did it to you. So thats my experience FWIW, you are more than welcome to take the next plane to NY and discover for yourself what itslike to live there.

Well, again, I think you ought to live near a high number of black people in their own communities , then rethink your conclusions. Its one thing to google, another thing to live some real life experiences directly related to the issue at hand, then share about them.

Peter King says Eric Garner would not have died from chokehold were he not 'so obese'

Another good point : "If you cant breathe, you cant talk". ... and who is to say that it was his own bad physical condition (350 lbs is sort of overweight), plus whats someone with an asthma condition doing selling cigs? Anyone else but me see the word "jackass" on his forehead? I guess my past experiences leave me appearing "biased" , but I have no reason to lie. I have tried being nice and polite to black people, many times than not, they still leave the confrontation pissed off no matter what I say or do, so theres not much room left to think something else...and thats that ugly word no one likes to hear said - N*****s - but then they even find THAT is a problem and take offense at that, so to me they are probably just born with an attitude or pissed off, and anything you do or say can set them off at any given moment...and if you disagree you are a evil racist. I think they create these disruptions just to get attention, and some free mental health therapy. You gonna tell me all these rioters and looters "loved" Trevon, and Brown and Garner like they knew him personally or something? Im sure they are in it for themselves and their own reasons and could care less about any of them.

Theres a flip side to that dude.

A crisis can be a sign of lots of danger, or it can be turned completely around to be an opportunity to learn.
