As scientist instead I am very annoyed, I tell you.

We are glorified when, even if indirectly, we invent new toys like cellphones, atomic warheads, LTE connections... But when we discover unpleasant truths we are bashed and called totally unrealistic, hopelessly idealistic, dangerously revolutionary, foolishly gullible or what have you.
To feel even more insulted, in some countries you are forbidden by law to share lies about historical facts, but sharing lies and bullshit against science is always welcome.

Since the unpleasant truths are becoming more and more common we have a wave of anti-intellectualism visible in all level of society. Heck, there are schools teaching creationism! It did not happened since at least 200 years! Even in movies scientist are treated as idiots; just think to Prometheus (2012) every scientist is a moron. This is a new trend; if you watch some old movie usually they are clever and helpful or even the heroes. For example in Godzilla (1954) is the forbidden weapon invented by a scientist that kills the monster.

Of course, the problem is not only me being annoyed. But also real life diseases coming back or terrible droughts (and consequent wars and refugee) or simple total lack of rhyme and reason.

However, it is always a pleasure to see some reasonable american. They seems rare on the Internet.

Bill Nye is one of my all time hero's, right beside Carl Sagan and David Attenborough. I was one of those kids who watched PBS/TDC before it was reality TV riddled nonsense.

One of my most fondest jingles was the various intro's to NOVA.

I understand that someone has to focus on the bad, to see what needs fixing. Anything bad in the world that is ignored isn't recognized to be bad to begin with, but I make sure I keep my glass at minimum, half full of the good and half empty with the bad, which results in an understanding that YES~ there is bad in the world, but it's not something I dwell on.

You know what I would like to see in my lifetime? The next big-thing that will replace dependencies on oil. Automobiles, everyone needs one. The world of commerce and every day life can't pedaled on a bicycle.

I try to take everything I read on the internet with a grain of salt, because it is indeed the biggest rumor/bullshit mill to ever be created. You know how fucking annoying it is to have someone literally want to show me something on Facebook/social media that I know for a fact is horseshit? I question everything, for example

Question everything inclined me to look up Chuck's birthday.

Human beings are natural story tellers, whether its rooted in factual non-fiction or a tall tale pile of smelly fictional lies, some people can give a shit less about the information they perpetuate and pass down, or just gobble it up like a tasty slice of pizza.

One of my children told me one day ,that they was told they more golden the whiskey the more expensive it is. I know better, whiskey starts out clear. Aging inside barrels gives it the color,and the time spent in the barrel determines how much color change occurs..... I am guilty of not correcting the incorrect understanding of things. They told me that information with unwavering confidence, and I just smiled and said `cool` ! o_O

Noting that the chick's channel is RFSAFE , she has an agenda....but whether that agenda is to sell bullshit or perpetuate a truth about radio frequency/magnetic radiation/whatever other shit she babbles on about, and I've learned that anyone with an agenda will do anything to push that agenda,even if it means creating nonsensical bullshit into on the surface a sensical bouquet of bullshit.... I'm still on the fence about the whole thing that she presented as fact. Her channel immediately had me lobbing her into the push the agenda category. I got tired of googling about it truth be told...

I do understand that , an iphone ringing =/= ants all of a sudden deciding they are gonna all of a sudden go merry go round same direction uniformly, as on close observation those fucking ants are literally running through each other, and don't even fn look like ants, but when viewed on a cellular device, they don't look too shabby.

Well, sure. It cannot, but it does not mean there is an alternative. The only realistic, and not utterly devastating, future is much less movement and using much less energy. The "business as usual" cannot continue forever; scientist knows it already from the '70 from a study supported, ironically, by Volkswagen. You should check it out and also check how they were essentially right, yet it was only after about 40 years someone seriously check it out just because the truth is unpleasant. Unfortunately, reality does not care too much about we would like.

Why isn't there an alternative? You know many things have been rendered obsolete in under a century before. The telegraph was rendered obsolete in almost half a century.

VHS was rendered obsolete in well under a century.

as we become more technologically advanced, the time frame that which something becomes obsolete its narrowing every time.

imagine what happens when quantum computing actually becomes a thing? it's going to exponentially decrease the time it takes to solve mysteries / problems, compared to the previous times it took to make the equivalent leaps....

If... maybe... I prefer speaking about facts, and at the moment NOTHING even come close.
The only solutions found so far are more difficult, of lower quality, and quite expensive (at least environmentally) to extract oil. See tar sands or fracking.
