  • Starcraft 2

Starcraft 2 was announced a day or two ago. If it wasn't for Bank I still wouldn't have known This looks promising.

    http://gamevideos.com/video/id/11671 <-- this is a better video.

Starcraft is my favourite RTS game. There's just an unlimited amount of strategies you can come up with in every game. Korea treats the game the same way Canadians watch hockey and Americans watch football.

      From what I remember:
      • The Terran were scattered, including Jim Raynor's group.
      • The only Protoss left are the Dark Templar
      • And all of the Zerg are controlled by Kerrigan who pretty much has the grip hold on everyone

And then there was that secret level where Duran was creating a mixed version of the Zerg and Protoss. Xel Naga anyone?

      I can't wait :] Probably going to be released in 2009 ;o

Total Annihilation is superior to Starcrap. Supreme Commander will most likely be superior to Starcrap 2.

This is kind of the response I'm seeing everywhere. Why the hate for Starcraft all of a sudden? It's not a game I'm brilliant at, it's not a game I've spent a huge amount of time with, but it's a great, polished RTS that I enjoyed a lot at release and have been back to a few times over the years. Obviously it's showing its age a bit, that's why we're getting a second one. I'm sure it'll be worth a look.

I agree. Although I had a tough time with the first game, I actually enjoyed playing it.

You can say something else is better than it but that's just your opinion and not fact.

Well some people love and other hate it. Personally I liked everything that Blizzard has put out. This game will be no different.

I've bought into three games so far and I barely have enough time to play those. I'll probably pass on buying this one. Who knows, one day it may be on the $10 clearance rack and I'll get it then.

I will find you... it's only a matter of time.

SC2 looks nice and shiny. I like the licensing of Havok physics "for debris to roll down slopes"... but despite that, at least they credit their middleware licenses unlike certain unnamed Washington based makers of Half-Life who allow people to unduly credit them.

SC was kinda fun, but I was never a huge fan, it felt like I had 2 units to work with "slow and expensive" and "fast and worthless". Not enough unit variety, and of course it suffered from the bane of every RTS, the ai.

So far SC2 is looking like SC with shiny graphics and a few new units. The physics should be pretty sweet, along with all the nice special effects. Starcraft was a legend. So many countless ways to assault your enemy. Everything is perfectly balanced, and I can see scar3crow's point of view, but the not huge variety of units is what makes SC so well balanced. It is true that you can win with only one type of unit, but the truly smart player will force you to use different types and especially the scientific units (terran science vessel , protoss high templar, zerg defiler).

and about WoW, I can see how people think it is shit. I thought it was shit when I first played it. Then I played it again, and after the incredibly boring tutorial part, how vast and seamless the warcraft world was hit me and I was addicted. (check out my Xfire )

TvT: A race to be the first with siege tanks
TvZ: Science Vessel pwnage vs Ultralisk tank shields
TvP: comsat and goons are a must early game
ZvZ: A race to get scourges
PvP: observers are a must early game

basically it's a must to get a detector early game when against toss, SVs are so unfair against the zerg, and siege tanks ensure victory

What's your favourite spell caster for each race?
Terran: Science Vessel (bye bye overlords, mutas, ultras, defilers, bla the list goes on)
                          Zerg: Queen (bye bye tanks)
Toss: Arbiter (very helpful on large maps. Statis field pwns)

                          Most underestimated spells IMO:
                          • Medic's blind ability
                          • HT halucinations
                          • DA maelstorm

And lastly, most favourite unit of all
                          The Goliath!!!

Let me rephrase, there was such little feedback on the few units that they felt dinky, and the same thing over and over. Like playing chess with checker pieces.

hehe. Starcraft is like chess without the waiting for your turn part
