I never came back here for that whole year. I made my post (which was before yours) and ignored this thread. Yesterday, I followed a guest here from "Online Users: num", saw your question and answered it. That simple. The elapsed time doesn't matter. Consider me to be incredibly tardy. Better late than never, right?

I knew you would come back here to reply to me. I also knew your reply wouldn't be as simple as (ex):

"I never realized those things about New Orleans."

Your mini-rant about my "choice" of a place to reside was only valid til a certain date? That date is up and your rant is no longer true or valid? Do you read history (any)? Do you have an opinion on it? Your "ancient thread" theory is moot to me. You are trying to tell me that your words only have validity if I hurry up and answer.

It may be an ancient dead thread in some of your opinion, but in my opinion, it's just data. Age is irrelevant. Qc source is 17 years old, people are still asking questions.

I could understand to some degree if my reply was "Hey, finally, fuck you!", but I provided actual information, kind of a lot of it. And maybe, just maybe gave people a more actual view of what New Orleans is about. I was in a different state during Katrina and saw the shit they were showing on the news. They made my city look like a gigantic project full of illiterate people and thugs. That is so far from the truth it is unreal. We have problems, they aren't anywhere near as prevalent as the media would like you to believe. This is a very nice place to live and far more safe than many of you may have been programmed to think.

I had a flat and no spare a few months ago. A guy that was ironically driving a Dodge van of a different year than mine GAVE me his spare (rim and all). I have since given it back. He was black, which doesn't matter to me at all but it seems to be some kind of ignorant indicator to other people that there is about to be trouble. There is even far less racial separation here than believed.

I just found out today that the biggest project in the city (Bienville projects) is about to be torn down and turned into historical looking condominiums. They have already done exactly this to 2 other projects. This is going to push a lot of crime into the streets, but it isn't going to last because the criminals will have nowhere to run to. The cops will mop them up in a month or two, just like the last 2 times they did this. That Project is in the French Quarter, which is practically the last spot in the city that has prevalent crime.

This move is going to basically mop up the whole Quarter. Canal street will come back as a safe "business district" and attract a lot more tourists, which will attract lots more conventions. Also how many jobs will be created simply in ripping down the projects and building anew? How much revenue will be generated by dumping the "handout" crowd for the condo crowd? What about all the jobs that will be created to manage and maintain those condos? On top of that this will be just to the side of the biggest "business district" in the city. Someone has to move into those condos and it wont be the project people. This will put 1000's of new customers in the Quarter. Businesses on the edge will be hiring or replaced with new businesses that are hiring. In short, New Orleans economy is about to upgrade again. Instead of just barely enough work there will be too much of it available until a balance is reached.

So, in a sense we are about to be one of the few states left with a booming economy. A guy like me is going to make ass loads of money because I will bring my business back online. While places like Detroit are becoming a ghost town, New Orleans will be leading the way in teaching the country how to put your city to work AND provide even safer streets.

This may all seem like beating the "New Orleans is great!" horse, but really consider what I am telling you. This place is practically it's own world. We manage to sustain a certain quality of life no matter how bad the rest of the world is. Media portrays this as a shit hole and in reality it is like they are robbing you of critical information. "Stay out of N.O, it's a shit hole" and we are doing great and improving all the time... Makes you wonder what agendas are in place for the news to keep you out of maybe one of the only places in the country that isn't slowly falling apart OR to hide that fact while you accept that your city is potentially not making the cut and you are led to believe that this is happening everywhere with no way to overcome it.

See what I'm saying? We don't rely on the White House to fix our problems. In a sense we don't even acknowledge the federal governments effect on the economy. We consider our assets and use them to create our own economic reality.

Well, know you know that I pretty much never banned anyone and was an admin uninterested in banning people.

If a troll was trolling other people, I'd get them to try to troll me --- which doesn't actually work.

Then I'd make fun of them for not staying on topic when arguing with me.

But the real moral of the story: Isn't there some butthead on the internet who has insanely stupid opinions? Is it worth correcting some asshat like myself --- who can't even remember what he ate for lunch today?

You have better things to do than argue with someone like me -- I don't actually argue very fairly and always viewed potential troublemakers as someone to annoy for my own entertainment.
